FBI agents are seeking a middle-aged white man in connection with an explosion outside the office of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in Colorado. The agency thinks it might be a hate crime or an act of domestic terrorism.

The NAACP office in Colorado Springs shook Tuesday morning when an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated just outside. Two NAACP volunteers were inside the office at the time, but there were no injuries. CLARION, Pa. (AP) — Two people died and nearly two dozen were injured in an 18-vehicle crash during a snow squall in western Pennsylvania that left drivers with little visibility.

Authorities said the chain reaction pileup happened Wednesday afternoon in whiteout conditions on Interstate 80 in Clarion Township. Nine trucks, several of them tractor-trailers, and nine cars were involved in the crash in the highway’s westbound lanes, state police said. WHITE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — After suffering years of abuse at home, a 15-year-old girl broke into her parents’ locked room through a window, took their gun while they were away and shot her 16-year-old brother to death, authorities said.

One North Carolina city has finally surrendered in a long-fought battle to preserve a veteran’s memorial with a praying soldier and Christian flag.

The city, after spending $50,000 in legal fees, and with little hope of winning a court battle estimated to cost $2 million, ceded to the U.S. army veteran suing the town, the Winston Salem-Journal reports.

Two shootouts in the Mexican state of Michoacán have left 9 dead and led to the arrest of 44 suspects.

The first shootout took place near the city hall of the city of Apatzingan when federal police forces tried arrest a group of gunmen, Alfredo Castillo who is Michoacán’s National Security Commissioner said in a televised press conference.

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) – North Texas has been rattled by 11 earthquakes in just over one day. The latest one took place just before 10:00 a.m. and measured 2.7 in magnitude. Another quake about 90 minutes earlier registered in at a 2.6 in magnitude.

There have been 12 total small earthquakes in the DFW area so far this year, all centered around the old Texas Stadium site in Irving. A Democrat Texas Congressman wrote a letter to U.S. Vice President Joe Bidden asking him to focus on the worsening security situation in Mexico which “has ripped apart our way of life on the U.S. Mexico Border.”

The letter was written prior to Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto’s meeting with Obama and other officials during the Mexican president’s visit to the White House.

Since I got into machine guns one of the most unusual things I have noticed is that an astounding amount of people who shoot most commonly available submachine guns will get ready, anchor their feet into the ground, cock the bolt to the rear, and then look at me confused and say “it won’t cock” or “the bolt won’t close”. I used to simply say “oh, it fires from an open bolt,” but that typically led to more confusion, even among people you would assume would be familiar with that type of action (including military folk and police officers). Hell, I have been to competitions where the range officer was insistent upon me walking around the range with the gun’s bolt open in the ready to fire position, even though I explained how the bolt closed with no mag in it is correct and that to render the gun completely safe I would have to remove the magazine and walk the bolt forward. A 34-year-old woman in Burlington, Iowa was shot and killed on Tuesday by an officer who was allegedly aiming for her dog during an argument, the Burlington Hawk Eye reported.

The officer, identified as Jesse Hill, shot Autumn Mae Steele in front of her husband and 4-year-old son. A dump truck driver was arrested Wednesday after police say he intentionally rammed two police cruisers at a Glenarden shopping center.

No one was hurt and no officers were in the cruisers at the time of the incident, which Prince George’s County police said occurred at the Woodmore Towne Center just off Interstate 95 and Landover Road.

The incident began a little before noon as two patrol officers were outside a Costco planning to refill fluids in the cruisers when there was a “brief exchange of words” with the driver of the dump truck, said Lt.
