NEW YORK (AP) — Greta Van Susteren is out as a nighttime host on Fox News Channel, replaced temporarily by Brit Hume starting Tuesday.

Fox did not publicly explain Van Susteren’s abrupt exit after 14 years, although a person close to the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity described it as a financial disagreement. CARMEL, Ind. — After a ruling by the U.S. Department of Education regarding federal loans, Carmel-based ITT Technical Institute is ceasing all operations, the company announced Tuesday.

The Green Party of Canada has adopted a policy of boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel into its official platform after a hard-fought resolution successfully passed at the party’s annual convention over the weekend.

Jurupa Unified School District officials received an unconfirmed report that two Indian Hills Elementary School students were diagnosed with leprosy, which prompted them to send a letter home to parents Friday, Sept. 2.

As people across the US celebrated Labor Day, Chicago was rocked by multiple shootings which left at least 13 people dead and dozens injured over the long week-end. The Memorial day week-end this May saw 69 shootings with at least 6 of them fatal.

Monday evening saw the latest homicides when two men in their early twenties were fatally shot when a someone in a minivan opened fire at a group of people on sidewalk  in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, according to Chicago Suntimes. Metropolitan Police officers will soon be able to use specially designed bags, known as spit hoods, to cover suspects’ heads during arrests and in police stations.

The mesh bags are used to restrain suspects and protect the police from those who might try to bite or spit at them. The Met insists the hoods prevents exposure to diseases and serious infection.

VIENTIANE, Laos (AP) — In the wake of another missile launch, President Barack Obama vowed Tuesday to work with the United Nations to tighten sanctions against North Korea, but added that the U.S. was still open to dialogue if the government changes course.

Obama signaled the U.S. would redouble its effort to choke off North Korea’s access to international currency and technology by tightening loopholes in the current sanctions regime.
