The world’s two biggest crude producers say they won’t increase oil output. Along with Russia and Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Venezuela have agreed to freeze production at January levels, according to Russia’s Energy Ministry.

NEW YORK (AP) — Police are investigating a woman’s report that she was assaulted by former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer in a room at The Plaza Hotel, an allegation his attorney said Monday was false, created by someone with “emotional difficulties.”
Attorney Adam Kaufmann said the allegations concerned a woman Spitzer has known “for a period of time.” He said she phoned him from California where she had been living to say she was returning to her native Russia via New York. SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea’s president warned Tuesday that rival North Korea faces collapse if it doesn’t abandon its nuclear bomb program, an unusually strong broadside that will likely infuriate Pyongyang.
President Park Geun-hye, in a nationally televised parliamentary address defending her decision to shut down a jointly run factory park in North Korea, said South Korea will take unspecified “stronger and more effective” measures to make North Korea realize its nuclear ambitions will result only in speeding up of its “regime collapse.” Continue reading “South Korea’s leader warns of North Korea collapse”

An Israeli border police officer was captured on film flipping a disabled Palestinian man’s wheelchair to the ground in Hebron on Sunday.
Moments prior to the incident, a 14 year-old Palestinian girl was shot after she attempted to stab a police officer.
Wheelchair user Majed al-Fakhouri said he had been trying to reach the girl to attempt first aid. The officer told him to turn back. “He then turned me over and my head hit the ground,” he told The Daily Telegraph. United states Senator Patty Murray gave a speech at a Planned Parenthood rally at the capitol in Olympia, where she dogged on the Republicans for holding up an Obama Supreme Court nominee, made fun of Ted Cruz, and said Republicans “Watch Mad Men and think it’s a how-to.”
After the speech, I had an opportunity to ask her about Senator Schumer’s similar tactic of wanting to hold up Bush Supreme Court nominations when he was nearing the end of his Presidency. Senator Murray’s staffers blocked me as they shuttled her into the get away car, and Senator Murray had no interest in answering the question about her own party’s hypocrisy. Oregon legislators are rushing through a bill aimed at protecting the identity of the Oregon State Police officer who shot and killed Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation leader Robert LaVoy Finicum after hearing that the officer faces potential death threats.
House Bill 4087, which would allow the police to ask a judge to bar release of the shooter’s name for 90 days at a time, is now headed to the House floor after State Police Superintendent Richard Evans Jr. described how police and other government officials in Burns faced a series of threats and intimidating behavior before and during the 41-day occupation at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. What can be said about a culture that continues to watch, much less listen to the drivel that masquerades as professional journalism? Anyone who is exposed to the continuous assault on common sense and intellectual integrity must resent the insults to the intelligence of the average voter. An electorate tunes into this charade of managed and filtered questions out of habit and certainly not from a motivation of discovering solutions.
