WEB Notes: How sad is that? In debt all of your days working until the very end. It used to be that folks worked for 30-40 years and then hung up their hats with a nice nest egg to use to go places and see things and pass a little on to their families. Today? Not so much. Instead we have to spend, spend, spend. We need that new shiny car or truck, maybe a new RV even though our old one works fine. In today’s age a high tech phone costs $800 bucks when we used to get them for “free”. Going into debt and paying interest is a horrible thing. About the only debt I can possibly justify is home debt and even then it should be paid off as fast as possible. At least with a home over time it will increase in value. But as we see from this article home owners were dying with 50k plus in home debt. Too many people over the years have used their homes as an ATM card to go buy a bunch of junk with their equity. That is not what it is for. Stop enslaving yourselves and learn to live with less and be free.

Earlier this month, Utah lawmakers passed HB155 which would make it illegal to have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.05%. A 0.05% BAC translates into only one or two alcoholic drinks!

“The proposal would mean that a 150-pound man could get a DUI after two beers, while a 120-pound woman could get one after a single drink…”  Continue reading “NTSB convincing states to lower drunk driving minimum to one or two drinks”

Tuesday on Sean Hannity’s nationally syndicated radio show, conservative commentator Ann Coulter, author of “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!” warned Trump to get past health care policy and tax cuts and resume working on what he ran on, which included immigration and the economy.

More than 50 victims and survivors of the June 2016 massacre at a Florida nightclub sued the gunman’s employer and widow on Wednesday, blaming them for failing to prevent the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

The lawsuit filed in the U.S. Southern District of Florida accused the security firm that hired shooter Omar Mateen of ignoring his comments supporting violence prior to the rampage that killed 49 and injured dozens at a gay nightclub in Orlando.   Continue reading “Florida nightclub shooting victims sue gunman’s employer, widow”

A 14-year-old girl in Maryland was dragged into a men’s room at her school by two older illegal alien classmates who proceeded to rape and sodomize her.

The two suspects were 17 and 18 years old. Despite that, they were in the same ninth grade class as their victim, leading to questions about the wisdom of placing nearly illiterate, non-English speaking illegal immigrants in classes attended by younger American children.   Continue reading “Maryland Girl, 14, Raped by Older Illegal Aliens at School”

Dozens of California communities have experienced recent rates of childhood lead poisoning that surpass those of Flint, Michigan, with one Fresno locale showing rates nearly three times higher, blood testing data obtained by Reuters shows.

The data shows how lead poisoning affects even a state known for its environmental advocacy, with high rates of childhood exposure found in a swath of the Bay Area and downtown Los Angeles. And the figures show that, despite national strides in eliminating lead-based products, hazards remain in areas far from the Rust Belt or East Coast regions filled with old housing and legacy industry.   Continue reading “Lead poisoning afflicts neighborhoods across California”

While you’d be hard pressed to find anyone willing to use a known herbicide for medicinal purposes, that hasn’t stopped Monsanto from patenting the star ingredient of their flagship herbicide, Roundup, as a type of antibiotic. In 2003, the corporate giant first submitted a patent for glyphosate as a parasitic control-type antimicrobial agent — or, in other words, a type of antibiotic.

The patent was granted in 2010, and you can view it here. Monsanto patented the combination of glyphosate and polyvalent anion oxalic acid as a method for preventing and treating pathogenic infections like malaria. As the patent explains, parasites from the phylum of Apicomplexa are often responsible for diseases in humans and other animals — and glyphosate is capable of inhibiting the growth of these parasites.

It’s official. As tragically revealing as the move might be, the rusty patched bumble bee has now joined the grizzly bear, gray wolf, northern spotted owl, and some 700 others on the endangered species list — the first bee ever to garner those protections in the continental United States.

Once abundant in the grasslands and prairies in 31 states in the East and Midwest, the rusty patched bumble bee’s population has been decimated by as much as 95 percent by some estimates, and now exists only in isolated pockets in 12 states and the province of Ontario, Canada.   Continue reading “It’s Official — First Bee Has Just Been Added to Endangered Species List”

Chuck Barris, who hosted “The Gong Show” and created “The Dating Game” and “The Newlywed Game,” died Tuesday of natural causes in Palisades, N.Y., his publicist confirmed. He was 87.

His autobiography, “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” was made into a film directed by George Clooney and starred Sam Rockwell as Barris. In the book (subtitled “An Unauthorized Autobiography”), he claimed to have worked for the CIA as an assassin during the 1960s and ’70s, a claim which the CIA denied. “He also fabricated his life because it might have been the best way of getting at the truth. The truth was that back when he was the Jerry Springer of his day, he couldn’t stomach being attacked for doing something he considered harmless,” wrote Joel Stein in Time magazine.   Continue reading “Chuck Barris, ‘Gong Show’ Host, Dies at 87”
