While media outlets focused on the collapse of Speaker Paul Ryan’s healthcare bill, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) quietly vetoed legislation that would have granted women immediate approval to carry guns for self-defense against domestic abusers.

The bill, HB 1852, would make exceptions in the issuance of concealed carry permits, “[providing] that for a period of 45 days after the issuance of a protective order the individual seeking the protective order may lawfully carry a concealed weapon.”   Continue reading “Virginia Governor Vetoes Bill Allowing Women to Quickly Arm Themselves Against Domestic Abusers”

Five years ago, Josh Begley, a data artist and editor at The Intercept, created a straightforward news app for iOS. It sent a push notification to your device each time a U.S. drone strike was reported by a news outlet.

There’s a map that shows you where the drone strikes occurred and a log that keeps track of each one. That’s it. No pictures, no interviews.

And yet, it was censored by Apple for years.  Begley attempted to bring Metadata+, which was originally called Drones+, to the App Store a dozen times.    Continue reading “After 12 tries, Apple finally approved an app for tracking drone strikes, then immediately deleted it”

History is full of powerful families that have left their mark on the political and economic systems of their age. During the Italian Renaissance, there were the Borgias and Medicis. In the United States, a number of families have realized America is not only the land of opportunity but also the land of wealth and dynastic power. We’ve had the Astors and Rockefellers, and even the Rothschilds have a foothold in the American power system.   Continue reading “The Most Powerful Family You’ve Never Heard Of”

The general public truly lives in two separate worlds. We have the world of the mainstream media, popular culture and political rhetoric; a world which constantly and desperately seeks to twist or destroy any legitimate measure of reality, leading people into a frenzied fog. Then, we have the world of concrete facts; an ugly, brutal world that upsets many people when they see it and leaves them with little more than the hope that the most innovative of us will perhaps reverse the disastrous course, or at least, survive to carry on a meaningful level of civilization.   Continue reading “You Will Never Hear These Truths Discussed In The Mainstream”

Israel’s communications minister says the Bible is enough to prove that his country has legitimate land claims, despite what Google or Wikipedia say. The remarks were made during an event supporting West Bank settlements.

“Defense is important and security is important but the most important thing is the moral claim of Israel and we are committed to living in our regional land, land that was given to us not by Google or Wikipedia but by the Bible,” Tzachi Hanegbi said at the Washington event, titled ‘Celebrate 50 years of Rejuvenation in Judea and Samaria.’  Continue reading “‘Bible, not Google’ gives Israel right to land – minister”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov always finds the most diplomatic ways to point out Washington’s innumerable international crimes.

During a discussion with Russian military officers last week in Moscow, Lavrov pointed to Afghanistan as an example of Washington’s longstanding policy of “managed chaos” in the Middle East. In the process, he also blew the whistle on NATO’s extremely high tolerance for drug trafficking:   Continue reading “Lavrov Calls Out NATO’s Role in Afghan Drug Trafficking”

The legal and illegal population of foreign-born immigrants living in America will break a 100-year-old record in just six years — and will continue to smash records for the rest of the century, according to a new analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data.

Former Obama Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Evelyn Farkas, made some stunning admissions during an interview with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski.

While discussing the mad scramble by the Obama administration to collect and preserve intelligence on alleged Russian election hacking before Obama left office, it appears that Farkas accidentally implicated the Obama White House in the surveillance of Trump’s campaign staff:  Continue reading “SMOKING GUN? If nothing else, the water disaster in Flint, Michigan proved that we can’t just accept it when officials claim that a water source is safe for drinking and cooking. This terrible lesson has been repeated in many municipalities across the country, and the takeaway is undeniable. If you want to be sure that your tap water is free of lead, you must take responsibility into your own hands and test to see if there is lead in your water.   Continue reading “Is There Lead in your Water?”

North Korea conducted another rocket engine test Friday, two U.S. defense officials told CNN Monday.

One of the officials reportedly said that preliminary assessments indicated that the engine could be used for an “eventual intercontinental ballistic missile [ICBM].” The latest test is the second in less than a week, as the North successfully carried out a high-thrust rocket engine test on March 19. Some observers suggested that the first test was a “dangerous step” towards the development of a reliable ICBM capable of striking targets in the U.S.   Continue reading “N. Three teen burglary suspects were shot and killed Monday by a homeowner’s son armed with an assault rifle in Oklahoma — which has a “stand your ground” law — and the alleged getaway driver in the case was arrested on felony murder and other charges, authorities said.

Authorities said they had not determined if the shooter, who was armed with an AR-15, would face charges. Oklahoma law presumes homeowners have a fear that justifies use of defensive force just by virtue of someone breaking into a home.   Continue reading “Killing of 3 teens during burglary may test Oklahoma ‘stand your ground’ law”

A study shows that water may be more effective than acid-inhibiting drugs in its effect on gastric pH.

Study participants were given either a glass of water, antacid, ranitidine, omeprazole, esomeprazole, or rabeprazole. Their gastric pH was recorded for six hours after each drug intake. Water increased gastric pH by more than 4 after just one minute. In contrast, antacid took two minutes, and most of the other drugs took more than two hours.  Continue reading “Pure Water: This Simple Drink Improved Stomach Acid in Just One Minute…”
