ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Adil Hasan and his wife, Enas Ibrahim, came to the U.S. in 2008 as refugees from Iraq, and have been living peacefully in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., ever since. To get here, though, they faced a dilemma as they sat in a camp in Jordan, where they were required to fill out their family trees to apply for refugee status: Should they include Hasan’s brother, Majid Al Mashhandani, who participated in the 2004 kidnapping of American contractor Roy Hallums?

In a phone interview Tuesday, Ibrahim said they decided to keep that relationship a secret. “We just wanted to leave our country,” she said. “When we started the process we were just scared to add his name.”   Continue reading “Family ties: 3 Iraqis in US allegedly hid link to kidnapper”

But the family lost all they had to the growing drought.

The 32-year-old Muse walked for three days to reach this wind-swept camp 13 kilometers (8 miles) south of Somalia’s capital earlier this week, leaving behind her other three children and their father.   Continue reading “Somalia’s drought once again has thousands on the move”

WEB Notes: Take a look at the damage that is transpiring in the middle east due to the so called war on terrorism. Saddam never allowed or caused this level of destruction, yet the US marches on all in the name of wiping out an enemy they helped create and support. This is extremely sad to see how many lives and families have been wiped out.

Breitbart – by Dr. Susan Berry

Public pressure has forced far-left officials at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district (CMS) to withdraw a pro-transgender book for first-grade kids — but the officials are now mandating a book with a disguised version of the same pro-transgender message.

A teacher raised concerns about the transgender-validating book, Jacob’s New Dress, at a school board meeting. The book celebrates a young boy who wears dresses to school, and it stigmatizes boys who urge their peers to wear boys’ clothes. After lawmakers in Raleigh heard the concerns, the book was removed from the “anti-bullying” curriculum — but it was replaced with Red: A Crayon’s Story, which focuses on a red crayon that believes itself to be blue, reports WFXB.   Continue reading “NC School District Fights to Keep Pro-Transgender Message in First-Grade Curriculum”
