Brent crude has surpassed $68 per barrel for the first time since May 2015. Oil prices have been buoyed by information that joint production cuts between Russia and Saudi Arabia-led OPEC are working.

Men who dream of starting a family may want to pass on the ibuprofen the next time they have a headache. A new study says the well-known painkiller could cause fertility issues in males.
The study, published this week in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), monitored 31 healthy white men aged 18 to 35. The volunteers were interviewed, completed a questionnaire assessing their physical activity, and gave a blood sample. TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is set to deliver his final state of the state address. The Republican governor will address the Democratic-led Legislature on Tuesday afternoon at the Statehouse.
Christie will be turning over state government control to Democratic Gov.-elect Phil Murphy, who takes office on Jan. 16. FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky’s Republican House speaker resigned his leadership post, declaring he did not want the secret sexual harassment settlement he signed to be a distraction from the chamber’s legislative work.

EILAT, Israel – Israel is regarded as a global leader in the fight against Islamic terrorism. The state police have quoted federal law as prohibiting people who legally use marijuana under state law, from purchasing firearms under federal law. Fascinating photographs from the war at sea during the Second World War have been after expertly colorized for the first time.
Among the most dramatic images is a photo of the stricken aircraft carrier USS Franklin after it was damaged by Japanese bombers in the South Pacific in 1945.

Nothing like starting the new year with a security flaw that affects more or less every computer system in the world. Last week we all discovered that pretty much anything with a chip is affected by Spectre and Meltdown, a pair of silicon security flaws that are likely to haunt our steps for a good long time. Basically, anyone with an Intel processor is vulnerable. If you’re running an AMD or ARM processor, you’re likely vulnerable as well.

Damascus (AFP) – The Israeli army overnight carried out air strikes and fired rockets at targets in Syria, causing damage near a military position, the Syrian army said in a statement on Tuesday.

Suspect in custody after sheriff’s deputy in Washington state shot dead while responding to 911 call
A suspect is in custody after a sheriff’s deputy in Washington state was shot and killed while responding to a 911 call late Sunday night, authorities said.
Pierce County Deputy Daniel McCartney was shot just after 11:30 p.m. while responding to a call reporting a home intruder, a sheriff’s office official said. In the 911 call, “dispatchers could hear screaming and a scuffle taking place,” the sheriff’s office said. President Trump’s most popular pro-American immigration reform, the system known as “E-Verify,” which would bar employers nationwide from hiring illegal aliens over Americans, has been entirely left out of all negotiations regarding the nearly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded from deportation by the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
DACA will end in March 2018 and despite amnesty for illegal aliens never being part of Trump’s “America First” agenda on immigration, the White House is now considering which pro-American immigration reforms it can get in return for granting an amnesty. An FBI probe into a 2010 property deal orchestrated by Jane Sanders, wife of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), has escalated after a report by VTDIGGER reveals that a grand jury has been empaneled, and at least one witness has given sworn testimony in the case.
