Sheldon Adelson is looking to expand his business to North Korea, the casino mogul himself said during a recent event in Jerusalem.
Mr. Adelson, whose net worth is believed to total $43.4 billion as of June 2018, is the founder, Chairman, and CEO of Las Vegas-based gaming and hospitality giant Las Vegas Sands Corp. The company operates multiple integrated resort properties in Las Vegas, Macau, and Singapore, and is eyeing expansion across new markets. Fast-food restaurants are already grappling with rising wages and a smaller pool of workers. Now 11 U.S. states want to restrict chains’ ability to bar employees from jumping to another franchisee across town.
The investigation by states including Massachusetts, California, New York and Illinois, announced Monday, is targeting so-called no-poaching agreements at some of the industry’s largest chains. The states argue that the companies — the list includes Arby’s, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts and Wendy’s — are depressing workers’ earnings by preventing them from moving to different franchisees of the same chain. Casey Lee Blair continues to pursue this father like a wild animal, a dad who has paid $68,000 to date in child support which is far more than the 20% of his income for that time period. Judge Casey Blair refuses to calculate to see if this man, Todd Tomasella, has paid his lawful child support amount. Casey Lee Blair is getting a percentage of that money that is supposedly owed by Todd Tomasella and therefore refuses to let it go. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang held talks on Monday in Berlin, and stressed their commitment to a multilateral trade system in the wake of trade disputes with Washington.
As part of the talks, the sides signed a range of commercial agreements worth about €20 billion ($23.5 billion). Joint projects, involving governmental agencies and companies such as Siemens, Volkswagen, BASF and others, were announced. Beijing has prepared a package of $20 billion in loans, and about $106 million in financial aid, for Middle East nations, including Palestine, Reuters reports.
The decision was announced in Beijing during a meeting between President Xi Jinping and representatives of 21 Arab nations. The financial aid from China to the Middle East is part of “oil and gas plus” model to revive economic growth in the region, Xi said. SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California prosecutor was disciplined Monday after posting to social media crude and profane comments about U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, former first lady Michelle Obama, Mexican immigrants and the victim of a police shooting.
Michael Selyem, a veteran deputy district attorney who handles gang prosecutions in San Bernardino County, was placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted, the district attorney’s office said. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump chose Brett Kavanaugh, a solidly conservative, politically connected judge, for the Supreme Court, setting up a ferocious confirmation battle with Democrats as he seeks to shift the nation’s highest court ever further to the right.
A favorite of the Republican legal establishment in Washington, Kavanaugh, 53, is a former law clerk for retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy. Like Trump’s first nominee last year, Justice Neil Gorsuch, Kavanaugh would be a young addition who could help remake the court for decades to come with rulings that could restrict abortion, expand gun rights and roll back key parts of Obamacare. President Donald Trump on Tuesday commuted the sentences of two eastern Oregon ranchers serving time in federal prison for setting fire to public land in a case that inflamed their supporters and gave rise to the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
The decision will free Dwight Hammond Jr., 76, and son Steven Hammond, 49, convicted in 2012 of arson on Harney County land where they had grazing rights for their cattle. The Department of Homeland Security is drafting recommendations for Congress to reform the H-2B cheap-labor program, according to a July 6 letter to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate’s judiciary committee.
“The report will include options on how the program can better serve out national interests … DHS is committed to ensuring that our immigration system is implemented lawfully and that American workers are protected,” said the letter, signed by L Francis Cissna, the director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency.
