The federal government, even though caught “suborning perjury,” will appeal the dismissal of a case against Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, his sons and supporters over the 2014 armed standoff with Bureau of Land Management agents.

TORONTO – The Canadian Bankers Association says Canada must create a digital identification system, potentially utilizing technology such as blockchain, biometrics and document review over a live video connection.
The association’s chief executive says moving away from a paper-based, face to face process towards a modern identification system of this kind is needed to “unlock the full potential” of the digital revolution that is underway. The back and forth between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Donald Trump over when and where the State of the Union will be delivered — if at all — came to a conclusion, if temporary, late Wednesday night. Trump will not give a speech until after the partial government shutdown is over.
The president tweeted the news in a two-part missive just before midnight, saying, “As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday informed President Donald Trump that he will not be allowed to deliver an annual State of the Union address in the House chamber until a partial government shutdown ends.
In a letter to Trump, Pelosi said: “I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the president’s State of the Union address in the House chamber until government has opened.” Passage of such a resolution is required before the president can speak in the House. BISMARCK — A bill has been introduced that would update an antiquated state law that allows nursing homes to sue children for their parents’ unpaid bills.
Sen. Dick Dever, R-Bismarck, is the chief sponsor of Senate Bill 2225, which would revise language of the state law, called the filial support law, which requires children to support their indigent parents. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, welcomed a 3D-printed statue of Joaquin “Guac” Oliver, a 17-year-old Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior who was killed in the shooting at the Parkland, Florida high school on Valentine’s Day last year. The life size 3D sculpture of Joaquin is a tribute to his memory and has been used to support efforts for common-sense gun reforms, like universal background checks, across the country. The congresswoman is the first Member of Congress to host the statue, which will be hosted by other lawmakers who support similar gun reform efforts to protect American communities and save lives.
