Illinois Eighth-Grader Prohibited From Delivering God-Centered Speech, Prayer At Graduation

World Events and the Bible

WEB Notes: This is truly disturbing, Christianity is/has being ripped from this nation. The young man cannot say a prayer at the graduation ceremony? Why is this offensive? If you do not believe in God, then his speech means nothing to you. No harm done. That has never been the point. The point has always been to remove God from the public arena. Why? Without God the people are more easily controlled by what men say as they do not have a guiding light in their path. Without God we have no direction. Without God anything goes as there is no moral compass. This young man cannot say a prayer, but drag queens can indoctrinate our children in our public tax payer funded libraries. This is insanity, the higher degree of insanity is why do we still allow it?

An eighth-grader in Illinois was recently prohibited from delivering a speech and a prayer during his graduation ceremony due to its religious content.

Seth Clark, the salutatorian at Akin Grade School, instead presented his message and invocation across the street following the service.

According to reports, Clark submitted his speech for prior approval as is the standard procedure, but was told that some of his planned remarks posed an issue. Clark had included text in his address surrounding “God-like forgiveness” and also cited a Scripture. He additionally wanted to pray.

Agreed. I don’t believe in God, at least not a “personal God,” and still I think people should absolutely be allowed to express their religious views publicly.

More often than not, I think Jews are behind this sort of thing. It makes them feel uncomfortable as a religious minority when they see public displays of the majority religion.

Here we disagree. Religion is one of the best tools available for controlling people.

I believe the Bible is the work of men, not of God (even if a God exists). So in my opinion, to be led by the “God of the Bible” is actually to be led by the men who wrote and compiled the Bible.

If God appeared in the sky and told everyone what to do, then of course I’d obey. But when human beings tell me, “God wants this” or “God wants that,” I say: “Prove it.” That includes the writers and compilers of the Bible, the Koran, and all other “holy books.”

It isn’t that I “don’t trust God.” I simply don’t trust men who claim to speak for God. Anyone can write a book, claim to have seen visions, etc. People can lie. People can be deceived or insane. And this can happen in regards to religion just as much as in any other area of human inquiry.

I can turn on the TV on any Sunday and see HUGE crowds being deceived by the “miracles” of some televangelist buffoon. Am I to think that this couldn’t have happened 2000 years ago, minus the TV of course?

Still, in spite of my religious unbelief, I certainly have a moral compass: my conscience. It causes me to feel revulsion at things like injustice, unwarranted cruelty, and lack of compassion. I didn’t choose this moral compass; it’s simply inherent to my nature. (I do choose not to try to suppress it.)

Yes, there are those who lack a moral compass, but not because they lack religion. The term for such people is “psychopathic.” Modern science indicates that their brains have certain developmental deficits in comparison with the brains of normal people. They simply lack empathy with others; they aren’t bothered when they see the innocent suffer. Psychopaths are a small minority of people, but alas, they are often attracted to positions of power: politicians, police, and yes, even some clergy.

As for the rest of us, we DO care about right and wrong, regardless of what our religious beliefs are. The problem is that many people, though they seek justice, have a distorted view of it, often due to manipulations of public opinion by…wait for it…psychopaths.

Citing the Talmud wouldn’t have been an issue.

    Satanic scum!
