My Experience with an IRS Phone Scammer

IRS Repeats Warning about Phone Scams.

“Potential phone scam victims may be told that they owe money that must be paid immediately to the IRS or they are entitled to big refunds. When unsuccessful the first time, sometimes phone scammers call back trying a new strategy.

Other characteristics of these scams include:

  • Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
  • Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security number.
  • Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
  • Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
  • Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
  • After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.”

Got the phone call from “IRS”……. going to jail, knew it was a scam second time it has happened to me. So the police were coming to my home with a arrest warrant…………… I kinda played.. Told the “IRS police” that I would be sitting on the porch, locked & loaded. Bring it on!

Doc always wished he was home for the call, so I told him to call the #7603728089 back. This is what happened next.

  1. The IRS probably is outsourcing collections to Nigeria, where Indians are manning the phones.
How far we have fallen when there are actually people out there who would buy it.
Outstanding monologue, Doc, my hat is off to you…and your donkey. 🙂

  2. Doc, you were much more civil than I am when I receive calls from people, companies that want to sell me their B.S..

Reminds me of some crazy responses we got when selling something on Craigslist.

Can’t stand when people exercise no courtesy by calling my private #, and act all friendly, call you by your first name, as if they are some old friend from long ago. It truly is disingenuous, as well as dishonest.

Anyway, you kept your blood pressure on this one.

  3. I love the phone call. A black guy walked into the welfare office an said to the gal ‘I wanna work, but can’t find no job, nobody’s hiring.’
Gal said, ‘yer in luck, we just got a job opening for a strong young man to be the body guard/chaufer for a 20 year old niece of a rich guy, the hours will be long so meals will be provided, transportation too, his cars, an she wants to spend at least a month in Hawaii where you will get her dates an keep her happy. the job will last 3 months.
    He said ‘yer bullshitting me’
    She said ‘you started it’
