Facebook has shut down a controversial chatbot experiment that saw two AIs develop their own language to communicate.

The social media firm was experimenting with teaching two chatbots, Alice and Bob, how to negotiate with one another.

Headline growth in US construction spending collapsed in July to just 1.6% YoY – the weakest since 2011.

As Reuters reports, U.S. construction spending unexpectedly fell in June as investment in public projects recorded its biggest drop since March 2002. Officials with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) signed a waiver of environmental regulations on Tuesday to allow construction of upgrades to the border wall and new wall prototype projects to break ground.

Malia Zimmerman, a Fox News reporter, was accused of fabricating two quotes for a story that connected now-deceased DNC staffer Seth Rich to Wikileaks in a lawsuit filed Tuesday by Washington police detective Rod Wheeler, the private investigator hired by Rich’s family and himself a longtime Fox News commentator. The Israeli military has unveiled a new version of the Namer heavy armored personnel carrier (APC), equipped with a 30mm cannon installed on a remotely-operated turret. The turret will also be used by the new Eitan vehicle, due to be introduced next year.

The upgraded Namer will be better suited to urban warfare and less dependent on other units to provide firepower, Brigadier General Baruch Matzliach, head of the Tank Program Administration, told the Israeli media on Monday. Homelessness is on the rise in the city of Los Angeles, and residents of the city are coming together to come up with solutions to the growing issue.

A group of students at the San Fernando High School decided to make an effort on their own. 

They had no invention or engineering experience and were able to build a roll up tent that runs on solar power, and can be carried in a backpack. Keep your eyes to the sky. The largest air war exercise seen in the Pacific Northwest began Monday with more than 3,700 military personnel from 30 countries descending on the region’s Air Force bases, including Fairchild Air Force Base.

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Arrests of undocumented immigrants in North Texas have nearly doubled since President Donald Trump took office.

Statistics obtained by CBS 11 show they’ve gone up by nearly 40 percent, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In a Fort Worth tortilla shop that doubles as a restaurant, almost everyone is an immigrant, both legal and not. German authorities have launched a six-month test of automatic facial recognition technology at a Berlin railway station, which the country’s top security official says could be used to improve security in the future.

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. (KSAZ) – Officials with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said Monday 35-year-old man who was arrested had every piece of equipment needed to make an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

According to a statement released Monday afternoon, Joshua Hendrickson was wanted for two outstanding warrants connected to drug and traffic violations, and was found at a relative’s home at the 1700 block of Sunset Point Drive in Oracle. Hendrickson was seen coming out of a shed on the property, and took off running.
