The police department near Boston that had the entire city on lock down following the marathon bombing is now asking locals for photos of the manhunt for their yearly calendar. Pictures of police forcing people out of their homes and driving tanks down the street will be proudly displayed in the calendars, which will be sold for 10$ a piece. WASHINGTON — The federal government says it will declassify parts of a 2008 secret court order that required Yahoo to turn over customer data under the National Security Agency’s PRISM data-gathering program.
In a filing Thursday with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, the Justice Department said that the declassification would make possible the publication of “much of the court’s opinion and order.” But the department said that some of the information in the opinion must remain classified and would be redacted. A Clarks Summit man sent an email to the White House threatening to kill President Obama a week before his visit to Scranton, the authorities said Thursday.

Washington, Oregon and Minnesota “could be the next battlegrounds” for the kind of gun control promoted by anti-gun billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns, according to a report in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal following Tuesday’s recall of two anti-gun Democrat state senators in Colorado.
In the aftermath of that political wake-up call, the Los Angeles Times acknowledged in an analysis by reporter Mark Barabas that gun control proponents want to make firearms less available. It is a startling admission by a newspaper that has been consistently and decidedly anti-gun-rights, and it unintentionally confirms what gun rights advocates have been saying about the gun control movement for decades: They are not interested in controlling crime, they want to take guns out of circulation, and that includes guns owned by law-abiding citizens. Negotiations between Russia and Syria on the supervision arrangement, which seem to have drastically reduced the likelihood of US-led military intervention in Syria, have been ongoing for two full weeks, and have also involved Iran, the Israeli Channel 2 report said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, determined to ensure that his ally Assad not face a punitive US-led strike following Damascus’s alleged use of chemical weapons in an August 21 attack that the US says killed over 1,400 Syrians, essentially ordered Assad to submit to international oversight of his chemical weapons stocks, the report said. Highly sensitive U.S. military equipment stored in Libya was stolen over the summer by groups likely aligned and working with terrorist organizations, State Department sources told Fox News — in raids that contributed to the decision to pull Special Forces personnel from the country.
The stolen equipment had been used by U.S. Special Forces stationed in the country. Lost in the raids in late July and early August were dozens of M4 rifles, night-vision technology and lasers used as aiming devices that are mounted on guns and can only be seen with night-vision equipment. According to a press release from the Department of Defense’s Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives program office, the U.S. had destroyed “nearly 90 percent of the chemical weapons stockpile” in advance of the extended Chemical Weapons Convention deadline of April 29, 2012.
