Fish swimming in water with a trace of the anti-depressant Prozac did not adopt a cheery disposition. Instead, they became edgy, aggressive and some even killed their mates.

The fish were subjected to traces of the drug by a research group at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee that examined how environmental exposure to the medication altered the behavior of fathead minnows, a common fish found throughout the Midwest. Continue reading “Too Much Prozac Turns Minnows Into Killers”

Bank of America whistle-blower's bombshell: Salon – by DAVID DAYEN

Bank of America’s mortgage servicing unit systematically lied to homeowners, fraudulently denied loan modifications, and paid their staff bonuses for deliberately pushing people into foreclosure: Yes, these allegations were suspected by any homeowner who ever had to deal with the bank to try to get a loan modification – but now they come from six former employees and one contractor, whose sworn statements were added last week to a civil lawsuit filed in federal court in Massachusetts. Continue reading “Bank of America whistle-blower’s bombshell: “We were told to lie””

Sgt. Ken Johnson, an officer with the Topeka USD 501 police department, patrols Topeka High on Thursday. Shawnee County school districts say they will continue to entrust security to police in schools, and will not arm teachers and other staff under a new concealed-carry law. Allowing teachers and other employees to carry guns under a new state law would cost most school districts their insurance.

EMC Insurance Companies, the state’s main insurer of schools, won’t insure districts with armed employees under the new law, which takes effect July 1. Districts already insured by EMC wouldn’t have their policies renewed. Continue reading “No school insurance for teachers with guns”

A coalition of Washington firearms community leaders is today launching a grassroots campaign to counter the well-financed gun control initiative backed by a Seattle-based gun control group, while also preventing firearms confiscation “by any government agency…without due process.”

Protect Our Gun Rights (POGR) includes leaders from the 17,000-member Washington Arms Collectors (WAC), Gun Owners Action League of Washington (GOAL) and the Bellevue-based Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA). In an emergency meeting Monday evening in Renton, the WAC Board of Directors voted unanimously to support the effort with up to $200,000 and CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb also committed his organization to an equal amount. WAC will encourage member contributions to support this effort. Continue reading “Washington groups launch fight against gun control initiative”

My wife went out to a shower today. I’m still not even sure if it was a baby shower or a wedding shower. I don’t really ask a lot of questions. All I know is she got dressed up and left me home with the five kids.

It was raining so me, being Super Dad, picked out a large book of nursery rhymes from our bookshelf to read to the four-year-old. I asked my six-year-old son if he wanted to listen and he looked at me like I had three or maybe four heads that were each speaking Portuguese in Pig Latin. Continue reading “The Horrible Meanings Behind Nursery Rhymes”

This story will probably make you sick to your stomach. A complaint for civil damages was recently filed against the Live Oak County jail system in Texas, naming the county and three guards as having turned the jail into their own personal sexual torture dungeon. The complaint alleges that three guards at the county jail ran a “rape camp” where they “repeatedly raped and humiliated female inmates,” and forced them to masturbate and sodomize male guards, and one another. The three guards named in the report are Vincent Aguilar, Israel Charles Jr. and Jaime E. Smith. Continue reading “Jail Guards Turn Women’s Prison Into Their Personal Sex Dungeon”

Great news! You no longer have to worry about excessive levels of glyphosate, the toxic chemical found in Monsanto’s Round-up pesticide, in your food or in the feed that livestock consumes. Why not? Well, the Environmental Deception Protection Agency has looked over the situation, and in their infinite wisdom, raised the safety threshold of glyphosate that is allowed to be in consumable goods.

The EPA’s change of heart means that the the allowed glyphosate level in animal feed will rise to 100 parts per million (ppm) and 40 ppm in oilseed crops. Thankfully, there’s no need for us to worry because they’ve assured us that the new allowable levels are only “minimally toxic” to humans. Continue reading “Despite Irrefutable Evidence of Toxicity and Death, Monsanto’s Friends at the EPA Raise Allowable Glysophate Levels”

Ralph Demicco (middle), of Candia, argues with a gun regulation advocate during a gun control rally supported by Mayors Against Illegal Guns in Concord on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

(TAEHOON KIM / Monitor staff)Concord Monitor – by JEREMY BLACKMAN

A man was arrested and apparently stun-gunned by the Concord police outside the State House yesterday while demonstrating against a gun regulation rally.

Based on video and witness accounts, the man, Daniel Musso, 52, of Brentwood was restrained by the police after touching one of them on the shoulders, and apparently stun-gunned seconds later for resisting arrest. The police would not confirm last night whether a stun gun had been used to subdue Musso. Continue reading “Man subdued, arrested at dual gun rallies in Concord”
