A vintage documentary going behind the scenes of 2001: A Space Odyssey has surfaced, delving into the making of the 1968 film two years before it blew our collective minds.

Rediscovered by Open Culture, the 20+ minute featurette looks at everything from the future of space exploration (circa the 1960s) to the making of Stanley Kubrick’s eventual classic. For sci-fi fans, this footage is a treasure trove of awesomeness.

From the development of the centrifuge set used for the space station, to the look and direction of the film, this mini-doc is a fascinating window into the genesis of an “unusual motion picture” that would go on to inspire filmmakers for decades.

Strap in for some classic sci-fi awesomeness and enjoy:

  1. I do not believe that the Saturn 5 rocket played much of a role in the moon expedition. I will explain why. Numerous scientists stated that to navigate through the Van Allen Belt would have required a lining of the rocket two or more feet of lead to protect the men inside the capsule. There were other problems too which I wont get into I am sure many of you already are aware of them. If not watch the video on You Tube “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon”.

Yes, we did go to the moon. When and how we may never know but I believe there was some alien technology involved as well as an anti-gravity ship. Who went? We are not sure of that either for the film of what we do have was studio created and mastermind by Stanley Kubrick by his own revelation in the movie The Shining. That too is on You Tube, many accounts. The Hollywood version is all we have but I am sure there is much more we have not seen and may never see.

Maybe one day we will get the truth.

Look into our off world air force and anti-gravity ships.
