Big Lots files for bankruptcy, operates 1,400 stores

Big Lots, the discount home retail store, filed for bankruptcy Monday, putting the future of its 1,400 stores in jeopardy. The Chapter 11 filing is another example of how American retailers and restaurant chains continue to struggle, with 2024 seeing the most bankruptcy filings for businesses since the Covid pandemic in 2020, when stores had insufficient funds to operate, leading to partial or total closures, the Daily Mail reported. Police in Prairie du Chien, WI arrested a noncitizen from Venezuela Thursday for allegedly attacking and sexually assaulting a woman and a child.
