Chaos broke out in the streets of Ferguson on Friday night, the same day that police announced the name of the officer who killed unarmed teenager Michael Brown andreleased footage appearing to show Brown stealing cigarettes from a convenience store. Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson later said Friday the initial contact between Brown and officer Darren Wilson was not related to a convenience store robbery.

A peaceful protest on Friday night turned into another confrontation with police after some in the crowd reportedly threw rocks and people began looting stores, including the convenience store that Brown was accused of robbing. Police formed lines and fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.   Continue reading “Ferguson Protesters Guard Stores From Looters”

Southern California –-(Ammoland.com)  District Court Judge Catherine Blake said military style rifles are unusual and dangerous.  That wasn’t an easy decision to reach.  Judge Blake concluded the government needs guns for its protection, but you don’t.  It is her conclusion that doesn’t make sense.  She said our modern semi-automatic magazine fed rifles are unusual.  Maybe we shouldn’t expect much acuity from her given that she was appointed by President Clinton.   Continue reading “A Judge Distorts Gun-Facts”

A grand jury indicted Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Friday for allegedly abusing the powers of his office by carrying out a threat to veto funding for state prosecutors investigating public corruption — making the possible 2016 presidential hopeful his state’s first indicted governor in nearly a century.

A special prosecutor spent months calling witnesses and presenting evidence that Perry broke the law when he promised publicly to nix $7.5 million over two years for the public integrity unit run by the office of Travis County Democratic District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg. Lehmberg was convicted of drunken driving, but refused Perry’s calls to resign.   Continue reading “Texas’ Perry Charged With Coercion for Veto Threat”

He never said another word about that daydream until he graduated from high school. Charlotte, NC –-(Ammoland.com)- Amicus curiae (“friend of the court”) briefs have been filed in Nojay v. Cuomo, the appeal from the decision of Judge William Skretny last year that largely upheld New York’s Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (“SAFE”) Act.

The plaintiffs challenged bans on large-capacity magazines and “assault weapons” (as redefined), the requirement that magazines contain no more than seven rounds, and new rules on ammunition sales, as unconstitutional.  After Judge Skretnty denied most of these claims, the case (decided as New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, Inc. v. Cuomo) was appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.   Continue reading “22 State Attorneys General Join Pro-Second Amendment Brief in NY SAFE Act Appeal”
