Facing pressure to combat drug use and sexual assault at the Air Force Academy, the Air Force has created a secret system of cadet informants to hunt for misconduct among students.

Cadets who attend the publicly-funded academy near Colorado Springs must pledge never to lie. The United States Air Force Academy is defending its use of cadet “spies” after a local newspaper broke the story that one its informants was expelled for misconduct committed at the secret instruction of the academy.

A New Yorker who was arrested near his Brooklyn home for possession of several Ecstasy pills was actually carrying breath mints, a discovery that forced prosecutors to drop a criminal charge against the man, who is now suing for false arrest.

More than 2 million passwords for sites including Facebook, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google have been stolen and posted online, BCC reports.

The “ethical hackers” at security firm Trustwave’s SpiderLabs blog discovered the trove of login credentials, email credentials and passwords on Tuesday.

Security experts told BBC that a criminal gang may be behind the security breach. Landry Thompson, 13, was visiting Houston with her dance instructor, Emmanuel Hurd, to take a series of dance classes from top industry professionals.

An NYPD lieutenant shamed a detective in front of the entire squad, branding him a “rat” for reporting misconduct to the Internal Affairs Bureau, two of his former colleagues confirmed.

The two detectives detailed the humiliation in sworn statements filed in connection with former Detective James Griffin’s federal lawsuit, which contends he retired after being publicly disgraced by his supervisor. A NYPD cop and two goons — including a reputed gangster who was involved in a fatal stabbing of a groom-to-be — were arrested Tuesday with extorting monthly “protection” payments from an Albanian restaurant in Queens, federal authorities said.
