A coalition of Washington firearms community leaders is today launching a grassroots campaign to counter the well-financed gun control initiative backed by a Seattle-based gun control group, while also preventing firearms confiscation “by any government agency…without due process.”

Protect Our Gun Rights (POGR) includes leaders from the 17,000-member Washington Arms Collectors (WAC), Gun Owners Action League of Washington (GOAL) and the Bellevue-based Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA). In an emergency meeting Monday evening in Renton, the WAC Board of Directors voted unanimously to support the effort with up to $200,000 and CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb also committed his organization to an equal amount. WAC will encourage member contributions to support this effort.   Continue reading “Washington groups launch fight against gun control initiative”

Queens Warrant Squad.jpegGothamist – by Christopher Robbins

Ernest Hemingway kept a submachine gun in his 38-foot fishing boat in case he came across a German U-boat or an armed marlin, so it’s likely that he would appreciate the utter lack of nuance displayed by the members of the NYPD’s Queens Warrant Squad who wear his words. A tipster passes along this “disturbing” photo taken outside Queens Criminal Court showing members of the squad on-duty, shortly after escorting a woman into court for a misdemeanor charge.

Aside from taking a moronic view of public service culled straight from The Running Man, the shirts appear to violate department policy. NYPD Interim Order P.G. 203-06, “Performance on Duty – Prohibited Conduct,” which was obtained by DNAinfo’s Murray Weiss last year, prohibits NYPD employees from wearing   Continue reading “NYPD Officers Caught Wearing T-Shirts Professing Their Love For “Hunting Of Man””

Imagine this grisly scenario: You’re driving down the interstate with the cruise control set at the speed limit. Without warning, your car accelerates. The speedometer pushes past 100 miles per hour. Suddenly, the car turns left and crashes into the concrete median.

If you are lucky enough to survive, you emerge from your wrecked vehicle and see crashes all along the highway. Hundreds of identical, high-speed accidents have taken place at the same time.   Continue reading “The Scary Truth Of How Terrorists Could Crash Your Car”

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court says prosecutors can use a person’s silence against them if it comes before he’s told of his right to remain silent.

The 5-4 ruling comes in the case of Genovevo Salinas, who was convicted of a 1992 murder. During police questioning, and before he was arrested or read his Miranda rights, Salinas answered some questions but did not answer when asked if a shotgun he had access to would match up with the murder weapon.   Continue reading “Supreme Court Rules That Pre-Miranda Silence Can Be Used In Court”

Dan Langley, 20, of Wall holds 3 tickets he received from Spring Lake Heights police after suffering a heart attack which caused a car accident.Daily Record – by Michelle Sahn

Though Dan Langley had a heart attack while driving in Spring Lake Heights, that did not stop a police officer from giving him three traffic tickets.

A little more than a week after the April 1 heart attack, which led to a minor traffic accident, Langley, a 20-year-old Wall resident, received the tickets in the mail. When he went to the Spring Lake Heights Municipal Court to fight them, he and his family figured a doctor’s note would help convince the local prosecutor or judge to dismiss the summonses.   Continue reading “NJ man had a heart attack behind the wheel – and got 3 tickets from Spring Lake Heights police”

I am going to circle back to an issue that won’t go away, and that is guns.  As a reminder, there were four gun bills sent from the Senate Judiciary Committee to the Senate Rules Committee on a party line vote.  This was done because there were not the votes in the Senate to pass any of them and the only way to keep them alive was to send them to Rules which is one of the few committees still open.    Continue reading “New York City driving gun policy here in Oregon”

The man, Adam Lanza, happened to use a Bushmaster brand AR-15-style, semi-automatic rifle in the Newtown, Conn., massacre. Almost instantly, gun-control politicians and activists blamed the weapon, instead of the man.   Continue reading “MILLER: Bushmaster CEO breaks silence on Newtown school shooting”
