The highly respected vice admiral responsible for naval forces in the Middle East who was found dead in his home last year took his own life, a Navy investigation found.

Vice Adm. Scott Stearney, who commanded U.S. 5th Fleet, was found dead in his home in Janabiya, Bahrain, on Dec. 1. It was 52 years ago today that Israel attacked the USS Liberty, killing 34 American sailors and wounding 174, yet the US government coverup persists.

Two days ago, the US celebrated the 75th anniversary of D-Day with accolades to the armed forces and thanks to surviving veterans. The country stood strongly with the military. But today two days later is the 52 anniversary of a day of shame when Washington turned its back on the US Navy. It was June 8, 1967 when the USS Liberty, a surveillance ship stationed off the coast of Egypt, was attacked by Israeli fighter aircraft and torpedo boats. The Israelis were unable to sink the Liberty, but managed to kill 34 American sailors and wound 174. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) – The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe was in court Wednesday asking to be granted a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction that would allow the tribe to start growing hemp on their land before establishing United States Department of Agriculture regulations.

Damascus (AFP) – The Syrian army’s anti-aircraft defence was activated Sunday against “enemy missiles” fired from Israel at “positions” in southwest Damascus, the official SANA news agency quoted a military source as saying.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) UPDATED: 5:52 p.m. Tuesday

A 44-year-old man was shot by a Minnehaha County sheriff’s deputy after authorities say he charged officers with a knife Tuesday afternoon at the Minnehaha County Jail.

Authorities said the subject entered the Minnehaha County Jail’s front lobby, creating a disturbance. Deputies and corrections officers were dispatched to address the situation. Shortly after, authorities said the suspect began hitting the glass door of the lobby with an object, and an officer attempted to keep the doors shut. Doha (AFP) – Qatari state-funded broadcaster Al Jazeera suspended two journalists on Sunday over a video they produced claiming the extent of the Holocaust was being misrepresented by Jews.

A Florida mayor suggested putting immigrants up in Donald Trump’s hotels after administration officials informed leaders they were planning to fly immigrants from the border to two Democratic counties in the state.

“This is irresponsible policy. CANAAN, N.H. (AP) — A company has offered to rehire a New Hampshire school cafeteria worker whom it fired for giving a student lunch for free , but she isn’t interested.

Bonnie Kimball said she was terminated March 28 by Fresh Picks, a vendor that supplies food to the Mascoma Valley Regional High School in Canaan. INDIANAPOLIS—In a surprising move, Oliver North announced that he has been ousted as president of the National Rifle Association, going on the offensive to warn that the powerful gun rights group is in “clear crisis.”
