Israel has taken steps that could lead to the formal annexation of the West Bank, UN legal expert Michael Lynk said in advance of Monday’s United Nations Human Rights Council meeting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“After years of creeping Israeli de facto annexation of the large swathes of the West Bank through settlement expansion, the creation of closed military zones and other measures, Israel appears to be getting closer to enacting legislation that will formally annex parts of the West Bank,” Lynk said.   Continue reading “U.N. Ashland City, TN — Two police officers who strapped an 18-year-old in a restraint chair and tortured him with a taser were arrested and charged with multiple crimes this week. The horrifying video was so damning that the normal process of sweeping it under the rug was not an option.

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a 32-year-old Barrie man died following a violent arrest last week, part of which was filmed by at least one witness.

A video uploaded online shows the man being repeatedly Tasered, physically subdued and arrested by officers.

A $5,000 reward is being offered by the Air Force for the return of a box of grenade rounds that accidently dropped on a North Dakota road from a vehicle driven by an airman from the 91st Missile Wing Security Forces team, The Washington Post is reporting.

The vehicle was traveling between two intercontinental ballistic missile sites on May 1 when the back hatch of the vehicle opened and the container of explosive ammunition fell out. The RCMP mistakenly issued licenses to 1,356 people granting them authority to purchase “prohibited” class handguns — and then didn’t notice the error for 12 years.

During that time, 41 of the people issued those licenses in error used them to buy 114 semi-automatic pistols and revolvers.

Concerns are being raised about Alberta’s new policy on rehabilitating orphaned bears after a grizzly cub was killed by wildlife officers this week.

The province lifted a ban on private rehabilitation of cubs last month, but it only applies to black bears.

Two women rescued a grizzly bear cub near Grande Cache this week after watching it for five days to see if its mother would return for it.
