In its latest, greatest victory, Israel’s COGAT, the bureaucratic arm of the Occupation, just announced it has confiscated several dozen pairs of hiking boots “hidden in a shipment of civilian goods in an attempt to smuggle them into Gaza for terrorist purposes” – news breathlessly reported in the Israeli press with, “Battling Gaza Terrorists On a New Front.” COGAT, for Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, tweeted the find complete with stark photos of… shoes…and the sinister warning, “This is another miserable and failed attempt by terrorist groups in Gaza to hide behind the civilian population…The more these attempts continue, the more security and stability are compromised.”  Continue reading “On Banning Terrorist Boots: This Is What Occupation Looks Like”

If you enjoyed the global corporatocracy’s original War on Islamicist Terror, you’re going to love their latest spinoff, The War on White Supremacist Terror. It’s basically just like the old War on Terror, except that this time the bad guys are all white supremacists, and Donald Trump is Osama bin Laden … unless Putin is Osama bin Laden. OK, I’m not quite sure who’s Osama bin Laden. Whatever. The point is, the Terrorists are coming!   Continue reading “The War on White Supremacist Terror”

Cook County’s top public defense attorney called for the immediate removal of a new Chicago Police Department website that broadcasts adult gun-related criminal charges, citing what she described as inaccurate data and a “blatant intrusion” of defendants’ privacy.

“This is another example of police using a list of people who are presumed innocent as a red herring to distract from the real issue of the day: the CPD’s failure to arrest the individuals who are shooters and who continue to wreak havoc in Chicago,” county public defender Amy Campanelli said in a statement on Wednesday.

Hey, SCOTUS says it’s OK so it must be OK. Via Greg Doucette comes another WTF decision[PDF] — one that gives North Carolina cops the green light to engage in retaliatory arrests over protected speech.

It’s not like there’s no case law to work with. The Eighth Circuit Appeals Court denied immunity to an officer who arrested someone for shouting “Fuck you!” at him as they drove by. Other federal courts have come to the same conclusion: flipping the bird/dropping f-bombs in the direction of police officers is protected speech and cannot form the basis for traffic stops or arrests.  Continue reading “North Carolina Court Says Retaliatory Arrests Over Protected Speech Are Cool And Legal”

It’s apparently now a digital “crime” to try to hold police officers accountable for their behavior, as tech overlords like Facebook and Twitter ratchet up their censorship efforts against liberty-centric pages like Police The Police and Free Thought Project – both of which, prior to being axed, emphasized the importance of law enforcement accountability.  Continue reading “Police state tyranny continues as Facebook bans pages that criticize dirty cops for brutality and planting drugs”

Two mass shootings have rocked the United States in less than 24 hours, leaving dozens dead and many more wounded. The first in El Paso, Texas was allegedly perpetrated by a white supremacist whose racist motives are outlined in a rambling “manifesto”, the second allegedly by a self-described “leftist” whose motives, like the 2017 Las Vegas shooter, are presently unknown. These incidents occurred a week after another mass shooting in Gilroy, CaliforniaContinue reading “Americans Should Be Very Skeptical Of Calls For New “Terrorism” Laws”

While AT&T and T-Mobile have both committed to nationwide rollouts of 5G cellular technology next year, an interview with Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg this morning suggests that 5G may actually take considerably longer than that to spread to customers.
