A potential pay raise for Congress is stirring up debate on Capitol Hill, and with funding for the Legislative Branch on deck for floor action next week, at least four proposals to keep lawmaker pay frozen are on the table.

Five House lawmakers have offered amendments that would bar funding for a cost of living increase for members of Congress. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is now accepting applications for its pilot program for 18-to-21-year-old military truck drivers.

The pilot program will allow a limited number of under-21 drivers with the military equivalent of a CDL to operate across state lines. Only 11 employers and no businesses were prosecuted for hiring illegal aliens over American citizens for U.S. jobs last year, federal data finds.
