A spate of proposed Chinese takeovers of U.S. companies, from the Chicago Stock Exchange to makers of high-end semiconductors, has created a vibrant business for a small circuit of Washington insiders who advise on how to get cross-border deals approved by the U.S. government.

Several former U.S. officials have in recent years joined the ranks of lawyers, consultants and lobbyists that have emerged as key brokers in trying to get Chinese acquisitions or investments in U.S. companies approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), which scrutinizes deals for national security concerns.   Continue reading “The Washington insiders who work to get Chinese deals approved”

It was a sad sorry day for vendors, the homeless and mystified onlookers who witnessed a recent wasteful and intimidating incident in New York. An order was made to take food from city vendors and hurl it into the garbage.

A witness recorded the event with a cell phone and the video was submitted to The Free Thought Project from the Facebook page of Gary Schlesinger. Police hover in the background as sanitation workers pick up large crates of fresh produce outside shops and start hurling them into the back of the trash-collecting dump truck.   Continue reading “Raw Footage Of NY Govt Forcing Vendors To TRASH Crates Of Perfectly Good Food”

Part of the training that LEOs (that acronym can reference law enforcement officers, or, as I call them, legally entitled to oppress) receive is in how to lie and get away with it.

These “legal” lies can include telling a suspect that police have evidence they don’t  have, or have obtained confessions they have not obtained, or even posing as a prisoner in a jail cell who is simply “shooting the breeze” with a fellow prisoner with the express purpose of obtaining evidence of a crime.   Continue reading “Cops are trained liars, and courts have sanctioned the practice”

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday dismissed an indictment against former governor Rick Perry that alleged he had abused his power by using a veto to try to force a county prosecutor from office.

Perry, was dogged by the case during his unsuccessful campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. He faced a first-degree felony charge, that could have brought up to 99 years in prison, arising from a funding veto he made while he was governor in 2013 that was seen as being intended to force a local district attorney to resign.   Continue reading “Texas court dismisses indictment against former governor Rick Perry”

Seattle, WA — Che Taylor, 46, was no stranger to the police. He’s been in and out of jail on numerous occasions. However, none of his crimes ever warranted a death sentence — but on Sunday afternoon, that’s exactly what he got.

In December of 2014, the parents of several Sandy Hook victims filed a lawsuit against Bushmaster and other related corporate entities like Remington. This wasn’t the first time that the victims of gun violence tried to shift blame onto firearm manufacturers, but to date, no one has ever succeeded. The gun companies are protected by federal laws like the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which prevents these kinds of frivolous lawsuits.   Continue reading “Remington Moves To Dismiss Ridiculous Sandy Hook Lawsuit”

A source close to Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed award-winning journalist Robert Parry that Putin has warned Turkey that any attempted ground invasion of Syria will be met with the defensive use of tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield.

A tactical nuclear weapon also known as non-strategic nuclear weapon refers to a nuclear weapon which is designed to be used on a battlefield in military situations. These differ from strategic nuclear weapons, which refers to weapons that are much larger in destructive power and are typically delivered by ICBM or SLBM missiles (though there are some that are air-dropped).
