If it seems like it was exactly a year ago that turmoiling retailer Radioshack shut down 500 stores due to lack of consumer interest in its wares (and or consumer disposable cash), it is because it was. So how does Radioshack demonstrate its morbid sense of humor on the one year anniversary of said announcement? Well, by closing another 500, or about 12% of the retailer’s total 4500 outlets currently in existence. America’s second-largest drugstore chain announced on Wednesday that it will stop selling tobacco products in all its stores nationwide this year.
The decision by CVS Caremark will remove cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco from the company’s 7,600 stores by October 1, as it continues to expand its health care operations. You just have to see this to believe it. Once you do several things become clear. First the Obamacare team is getting desperate, and secondly they’ve NEVER bought advertising in the private sector as they have absolutely no clue as what effective advertising looks like.

WASHINGTON — On the heels of the Senate’s passage of a long-awaited farm bill, the Obama administration is to announce on Wednesday the creation of seven regional “climate hubs” to help farmers and rural communities respond to the risks of climate change, including drought, invasive pests, fires and floods.

It’s beyond dispute that the United States is facing a water crisis. On the West Coast, where much of our produce is raised, an on-going drought has California governor Jerry Brown hinting that water conservation efforts might soon become mandatory. On the East Coast, the water is plentiful but is polluted by chemical spills, as seen in West Virginia and radioactive leaks, as seen in South Carolina.
Two years ago, Michael Snyder wrote about the endless drought of 2012, calling it the largest natural disaster in American history. More than 720,000 customers are without power in eastern and central Pennsylvania on Wednesday morning as a messy mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain from Winter Storm Nika hit the state.
Freezing rain accumulated an estimated one-quarter to one-third of an inch in the Philadelphia and Trenton, N.J. metro areas. Driving conditions are bad in many areas. In October 2009, Shawn Nee, an award-winning photographer, was stopped by officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department while taking pictures of turnstiles in the L.A. subway. According to the officers, Nee was engaged in “suspicious terrorist activity.”
“I want to know if you are in cahoots with Al-Qaeda to sell these pictures to them for a terrorist purpose,” LASD Deputy Richard Gylfie told Nee, according to footage shot by a body camera Nee wears while working. Gylfie and his partner, Deputy Roberto Bayes, held Nee’s hands behind his back, searched his pockets and conducted a check to see if there were any outstanding warrants for his arrest. At one point the footage shows Gylfie telling Nee he would put him on “the FBI’s hit list” if he didn’t answer his questions. (Economic Collapse) – Did you see what just happened in Japan? The stock market of the 3rd largest economy on the planet is imploding. On Tuesday, the Nikkei fell by more than 610 points. If that sounds like a lot, that is because it is. The largest one day stock market decline in U.S. history is only 777 points. So far, the Dow is only down about 1000 points during this “correction”, but the Nikkei is down more than 2,300 points.
