U.S. warships were seen entering the Panama Canal while navigating east toward the Atlantic, according to photos taken on Aug. 30.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Aug. 19 that President Donald Trump was “prepared to use every element of American power to stop drugs from flooding into [the United States] and to bring those responsible to justice.”
“Many Caribbean nations and many nations in the region have applauded the administration’s counterdrug operations and efforts,” Leavitt added.
A trans activist in Massachusetts was accused of fatally shooting a man after the victim confronted the activist for spray-painting. The suspect had previous assault charges dismissed after being repeatedly committed for psychiatric evaluations. The Trump administration has announced that it approved an $825 million weapons deal that will arm Ukraine with thousands of Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) air-launched missiles, which can hit targets up to 280 miles away, a significantly further range than other missiles that the US has sent into the proxy war. Leading European powers have not been happy with President Trump’s peace efforts which included him meeting President Putin in Alaska earlier this month, nor have they been thrilled at the prospect of a Putin-Zelensky meeting to try and strike a peace deal.
But now they look to be getting their wish amid the stalled talks and simultaneous ratcheting war. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz remarked Thursday it was now “obvious” that a meeting between Zelensky would not happen.

The gunman took his own life inside the church.
