In the video below by videographer BeautifulGirlByDana, a very good point is made about how with every earthquake that is strong enough to shake buildings hundreds of miles away, video after video is uploaded with hours and throughout the first day afterward, yet for some odd reason, the 7.3 magnitude quake that hit Fukushima this week, there were very few videos published, but quite a few copying them then reuploading, so it was the same videos, other than news reports, over and over again. The burgeoning battle between fast-food workers and their employers over low wages and benefits was ratcheted up a notch this week with the leak of a phone conversation from a McDonald’s employee helpline in which a longtime employee was advised to go on food stamps in order to make ends meet.
Fast-food employee advocacy group Low Pay Is Not OK posted a video on its website on Wednesday featuring a recording of a phone call made by McDonald’s employee Nancy Salgado to McResource, a phone line for McDonald’s employees to call for information about housing, child care and other resources. Mike and Chantel Sacket, from Priest Lake, Idaho, were preparing an 0.63 acre plot of land for the construction of their new home when an order by the EPA was issued to remove piles of fill material and replant the vegetation that they had removed from their property. The couple paid $23,000 for their property.
The order from the EPA was issued after the couple had gone through the process of acquiring all of the necessary permits to begin construction. They interviewed General Keith Alexander and let him tell us whatever least untruthful statements he could devise.
“We [the NSA] collect foreign intelligence for our country, and we provide information assurance for national security systems,” Gen. A partnership between police departments and social media sites discussed at a convention in Philadelphia this week could allow law enforcement to keep anything deemed criminal off the Internet—and even stop people from organizing protests.
A high-ranking official from the Chicago Police Department told attendees at a law enforcement conference on Monday that his agency has been working with a security chief at Facebook to block certain users from the site “if it is determined they have posted what is deemed criminal content,” reports Kenneth Lipp, an independent journalist who attended the lecture.
