Before It’s News – by Live Free or Die

What can I say, we appear to have another amazing coincidence about the Sandy Hook school shooting. The man who Wikipedia credits as coining the term “assault rifle” also grew up in Newtown, Connecticut. It also just so happens that he’s been at war against the NRA and the 2nd Amendment for many, many years now. An introduction from Liberty Belles:

The gun-ban elitists want you to believe that America’s streets will be flooded with killer machine guns if the “Assault Weapons” ban sunsets this September. They predict blood, mayhem, and societal chaos if law-abiding citizens are “allowed” to purchase these rifles, despite the fact that rifles of this sort have been commercially available since 1896. “A sick joke on all of us.”

This is where the true progressives and the libertarians and conservatives who care about crony capitalism can come together. The nomination of Mary Jo White for SEC chairwoman.

This is complete contempt for the American people. If there is any doubt, at all, about who’s side when it comes down to it this administration is on, look no further than this prospective appointment. Continue reading “This is insane. For many people it is just a famous, comical quote, but some passengers on a New Zealand-bound flight did not see the funny side in Wynand Mullins’ T-shirt, which read “Prepare to die”.

In hindsight, Mr Mullins says his T-shirt, with a popular quote from the fantasy film The Princess Bride, may not have been the best clothing choice for a flight, but he believes the reaction of Qantas was over the top.

Mr Mullins, a Kiwi living in Sydney, was one of the first to board his Auckland-bound flight on Sunday evening. While other passengers took their seats, Mr Mullins was approached by a flight attendant who said some people on board were intimidated by the words on his shirt. Last fall, we reported footage released of NYPD officers brutalizing a shirtless, shoeless homeless ban who was sleeping (with permission) in a Brooklyn synagogue youth outreach center.

21-year-old Ehud Halevi was beaten and pepper sprayed, as security camera recordings show, spent four days in prison and faced a string of charges including felony assault on a police officer — charges which were later dropped when the district attorney reviewed the disturbing video. This week, Gothamist reports, Halevi filed a federal lawsuit against the NYPD with the help of famed civil rights lawyer Norman Siegel. Siegel, the former director of the NYCLU told the Gothamist that he is confident Ehud will be awarded compensatory damages. He told the site: Continue reading “Homeless man brutalized by NYPD files federal suit”

The Washington campaign to control guns moves into high gear tomorrow when Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the author of the nation’s original “assault” gun ban in the 1990s, announces her new proposal to fingerprint, photograph and investigate Americans who already have weapons.

Her office told the Washington Times she will hold a press conference Thursday. Her original ban, which existed from 1994 until 2004, was not renewed by Congress after law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, testified it was ineffective in cutting crime.
