TOKYO (AP) — A strong earthquake late Saturday struck a mountainous area of central Japan that hosted the 1998 winter Olympics, knocking down at least 10 homes in a ski resort town and injuring more than 20 people, officials said.

The magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck near Nagano city shortly after 10 p.m. (1300 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), the Japan Meteorological Agency said. The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake’s magnitude at 6.2. Since the quake occurred inland, there was no possibility of a tsunami.   Continue reading “Japan earthquake collapses homes, causes injuries”

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — One gunman shot from the right, one from the left, each killing the non-Muslims lying in a line on the ground, growing closer and closer to Douglas Ochwodho, who was in the middle.

And then the shooting stopped. Apparently each gunman thought the other shot Ochwodho. He lay perfectly still until the 20 Islamic extremists left, and he appears to be the only survivor of those who had been selected for death.   Continue reading “Somalia’s al-Shabab kills 28 non-Muslims in Kenya”

Friday on MSNBC’s “Ronan Farrow Daily,” former President Jimmy Carter said President Barack Obama was “right” to go around Congress and enact executive action amnesty.
Carter said, “I think he has tried every possible way to get Congress to pass a reasonable bill. The Senate on a bipartisan basis — they overwhelmingly supported the Senate version. I think President Obama worked as well as he can with the House of Representatives.”

Baseball Bat Weapon Modifications: 6 Zombie Destroying Baseball BatsDIY Report

I’ve just finished a several week writing project that required way too much cerebral effort.  Quite frankly, my brain hurts.  After being trapped in front of a computer that long I normally feel like just going outside and blowing something up or burning through 1000 rounds of ammo as fast as humanly possible into my burning barrel.  Not this time though.  This time I fought the urge to be destructive and instead decided to do something constructive with my time, skills and energy.  Something that would make the world a better place.  Something, I decided, that would make my Mom and Dad proud.   Continue reading “Baseball Bat Weapon Modifications: 6 Zombie Destroying Baseball Bats”

There is a growing movement for labeling of GMO crops, and many would go further and ban GMOs completely. Currently there is a close vote in Oregon on a GMO labeling initiative, with advocates for labeling 0.3% behind and raising money to check ballots (we urge your support). Those who profit from GMOs spent $20 million to prevent labeling in Oregon. Several states in the Northeast have put in place laws that will require labeling.

Vermont is about to be sued to prevent GMO labeling. GMO profiteers have an unusual marketing strategy. While most companies brag about their product, the GMO industry spends hundreds of millions to hide their product. The US does not requiring labeling of GMOs despite the fact that 64 countries around the world label GMO foods.   Continue reading “It’s Worse Than Imagined: Study Shows Dramatic Correlation Between GMOs And 22 Diseases”

Earlier this year, we reported on Jacob Lavoro of Round Rock, Texas’ story; at the time, he was being charged with a first degree felony for selling hash oil brownies. He was set to receive an absolutely insane possible sentence of life in prison for weed brownies.

He is now officially on 7 years deferred probation, and he did not have to serve any time in prison. He believes it’s because of the extensive alternative media coverage of the amount of time he was set to face.   Continue reading “Teen Facing Possible Life In Prison For Weed Brownies Says Independent Media Saved Him”

Here’s a perspective on personal income for production and nonsupervisory private employees going back five decades. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has been collecting data on this workforce cohort since 1964. The government numbers provide some excellent insights on the income history of what we might think of as the private middle class wage earner.

The first snapshot shows the growth of average hourly earnings. The nominal data exhibits a relatively smooth upward trend.   Continue reading “Five Ugly Decades of Middle-Class Wages in America”

The “War” on Drugs: First off, there never really was or is a war on drugs. Politicians only care about loss of revenue when it comes to drugs and drug dealers, because they don’t pay taxes. Secondly, there was never a war on cancer either, just a fake corporate “search for the cure” to convince everyone to wear pink and march around, donating massive amounts of cold, crisp cash to CEOs who push fried chicken and aspartame while bankrolling donations under the guise of “non-profit.”   Continue reading “Five ways Big Pharma and Biotech are engineering disease”

Part 1 focused on Iran’s dual-use space program, which has a considerable military potential.

Part 2

According to experts in Israel, Iran’s missile industry has thus far concerned itself with mass production of Shihab-3 missiles. Now, after a series of successful tests conducted on the Sajil-2, it won’t be long before Iran will begin manufacturing this advanced missile too. Incidentally, the Iranians often refer to the same missile using various names. “The Iranians want a great number of such missiles, which would allow them to paralyze Israel’s anti-missile system. They will launch numerous missiles at once, in order to force the system to launch many Arrow missiles to intercept them,” explains an Israeli expert.   Continue reading “Propaganda Alert: Iran continues to develop nuclear weapons as well as long range launch capabilities – Part 2”

An outbreak of the plague has killed 40 people out of 119 confirmed cases inMadagascar since late August and there is a risk of the disease spreading rapidly in the capital, the World Health Organisation has said.

A man in Washington state was freed Thursday after serving 19 years behind bars on child molestation charges that turned out to be fake. His accuser came forward two years ago to admit she made up the accusations to receive more of her mother’s attention.

Convicted on child molestation charges back in 1995, Jerry Lee Brock has been in jail ever since. The case against him centered primarily on allegations brought forward by young Regina Rush, who was 11 years old when she said Brock – who was her mother’s friend – molested her as she slept. She originally testified against Brock in court, which led to his conviction.   Continue reading “Washington man spent 19 yrs in jail on fake child molestation charges”
