NEWARK, N.J. — NBC says a report by Brian Williams on the network’s Nightly News program that federal charges have been ruled out for Gov. Chris Christie in the George Washington Bridge scandal was incorrect.

Federal prosecutors say the investigation is ongoing and haven’t made any announcement on Christie’s status.

Al Jazeera America is suing former Vice President Al Gore and Joel Hyatt, the former owners of the TV network that became Al Jazeera America.

The parties are fighting over money that is being held in escrow. It used to be that, when you wanted to slap someone with a lawsuit, you’d have to hunt them down the old-fashioned way—on foot, just like mom used to do. But now, a Family Court official has ruled for the very first time in the United States (it’s already common practice in Europe) that yes, you can indeed serve legal papers over Facebook.

The ruling came after a Staten Island man had been (unsuccesfully) attempting to serve his ex-wife with a legal notice declaring his decision to stop paying child support. When the man’s ex-wife continued to evade him, he decided that there’s no reason her “active social media account with Facebook” shouldn’t count as legal contact. Apparently, the judge agreed. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Two F-22 fighter jets intercepted six Russian military airplanes that neared the western coast of Alaska, military officials said Friday.

The militarization of American police forces hasn’t been paid for by just the federal government. Pro-Israel groups in the U.S. have also played a role by financing trips for hundreds of law enforcement officers to travel to the Middle East for counterterrorism training, according to Ali Winston, a contributor to the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR).

WASHINGTON (AP) – Residents of the nation’s capital will be able to get licenses to carry concealed handguns outside the home, but only after they provide a specific reason for needing one, officials said Wednesday.

Mayor Vincent Gray and other city officials said they plan to propose legislation that would make the District of Columbia similar to a half-dozen states, including Maryland, where residents can be denied a concealed-carry permit if they can’t show a need for one. Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state legislative leaders announced today they had outlined a broad, multi-million dollar plan to fortify New York’s transportation hubs against the threat of terrorism–and said the details will be released next week in a joint event with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
