NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A June 11 sentencing date has been set for former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin who has been convicted of bribery, fraud and money laundering..

You’ve decided to shelter in place, either of your own free will or under the advice of emergency management personnel (insert ad hominem here). While we strongly recommend bugging out to a secure location outside metropolitan and rural areas the reality is – not everyone has the bankroll for that. So sheltering in place is the only option for some of us.
More than 2 million Americans are burglarized a year. You will never face an environment like that of a battlefield, and when the shit hits the fan you better be mentally prepared to survive any disaster. Whether your group is under heavy enemy fire or just trying to survive in a barren wasteland – lives are at risk. Any survival situation will seriously test your will to live.
Post incident survival situations involving combat will subject you to intense physical, mental and spiritual stress. Those unwilling to fight will not survive. You must be mentally prepared to take a life to protect you and yours. We all hope for the best out of humanity. Ordinarily we would ignore the news of another banker’s death – after all these sad events happen all the time – if it wasn’t for several contextual aspects of this most recent passage. First, the death in question, as reported by the Stamford Daily Voice is that of Ryan Henry Crane, a Harvard graduate, who is survived by his wife, son and parents at the very young age of 37. Second, Ryan Henry Crane was formerly employed by JPMorgan – a bank which was featured prominently in the news as recently as two weeks ago when another of its London-based employees committed suicide by jumping from the top floor of its Canary Wharf building. Third: Crane was an Executive Director in JPM’s Global Program Trading desk, founded in 1999 by an ex-DE Shaw‘er, a function of the firm which is instrumental to preserving JPM’s impeccable and (so far in 2013) flawless trading record of zero trading losses. Living in Nevada we have the same problem here and it’s called the Test Site. Area 51 if that’s what you want to call it. They dump more crap in the ground with no control over it and it has polluted the ground water,air and the ground so bad it will never be able to be cleaned up.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says she supports a proposed bill that would make it legal to carry guns without a permit or training, The State newspaper reports.
The proposed Constitutional Carry Act (S. 115) would decriminalize carrying a firearm without a permit — effectively eliminating the need for a concealed weapons license and related training — and would allow people to carry firearms either concealed or out in the open. A massive sinkhole swallowed eight Corvettes Tuesday morning on display in a Kentucky museum dedicated to the stylish sports cars.
The gaping hole in the ground is 40 feet across and roughly 30 feet deep, according to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green.

On Monday, the new publication First Look reported that electronically obtained metadata controls who, how, and when U.S. drones kill abroad. Journalists Glenn Greenwald and Jeremy Scahill write that that kind of information doesn’t only determine who is killed: Metadata on phone SIM cards determines how victims of the strikes are found.

The head of U.S. Special Operations Command said the first prototypes of a new, Iron Man-like protective suit could be ready for testing this summer.
Navy Adm. William McRaven said three unpowered prototypes of the so-called Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit — known in military parlance as TALOS and dubbed the Iron Man suit after the one worn by the Marvel Comics superhero — are being assembled and expected to be delivered in June. The plan is to evaluate the technology with the goal of fielding a system by August 2018, he said.
