The U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to ban the use of torture, a landmark vote intended to bar any further use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” on detainees and put into law an executive order President Barack Obama signed in 2009.

The Senate voted 78-21 for the amendment to the National Defense Authorization bill offered by Republican Senator John McCain and Democrat Dianne Feinstein.   Continue reading “U.S. Senate passes ban on torture”

Again, I will say HELL YEAH TEXAS! Why? Texas takes care of business time and time again! This is huge.

It’s all a part of the big plan to bring down America. That is what he wants and he is doing one hell of a job!   Continue reading “Texas Just SLAMMED Obama By Passing Toughest Border Security Bill In America”

For some time, food chain Whole Foods Market and organic farmers have had a cooperative, mutual relationship. The retail grocer has enabled organic farmers to gain a sizable foothold in the food market at a time when Americans’ passion for healthier alternatives to the GMO-laden, processed foods market is rising.

As The New York Times reported, Whole Foods’ stores were more like “showcases” for organic products – fruits, vegetables and flowers that are labeled with the names of the farmers who grow them.   Continue reading “Organic industry in shock as Whole Foods pushes new rating system that promotes chemical agriculture as better than organic”

U.S. President Barack Obama’s proposed ‘Trade’ deals are actually about whether the world is heading toward a dictatorial world government — a dictatorship by the hundred or so global super-rich who hold the controlling blocks of stock in the world’s largest international corporations — or else toward a democratic world government, which will be a global federation of free and independent states, much like the United States was at its founding, but global in extent. These are two opposite visions of world government; and Obama is clearly on the side of fascism, an international mega-corporate dictatorship, as will be documented here in the links, and explained in the discussion.   Continue reading “The Two Contending Visions of World Government: The Origin and Broader Context of Obama’s “Trade” Deals”

An interdisciplinary team of Anglo-Saxon experts and microbiologists have discovered a treatment against modern antibiotic-resistant superbugs in an unlikely place: a 1,000-year-old leatherbound volume called Bald’s Leechbook. This Old English manuscript, currently residing at the British Library, is one of the earliest known medical textbooks.

The centuries-old recipe for treating eye infections calls for two types of Allium (garlic and onion or leek), wine, and oxgall (that’s bile from a cow’s stomach). The instructions, translated by University of Nottingham’s Christina Lee, are incredibly specific: It requires the use of a brass vessel for brewing, a particular straining technique to purify it, and the mixture must be left for nine days before use.    Continue reading “Garlic, Onions and Cow Stomach: A Medieval Solution for Modern Superbugs”

Sheriff Ladson O'Connor | Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, GeorgiaI recently found this site and now check it everyday for good news. Today the number went from 54 to 55. ON this site one of the most notable things I’ve seen is how 2 of the k9 cops where killed by their handler at the same time. He left them in a hot car. No charges. Anyways enjoy this fair use material.

With all of the ridiculous new regulations, coddling, and societal mores that seem to be the norm these days, it’s a miracle those of us over 30 survived our childhoods.

Here’s the problem with all of this babying: it creates a society of weenies.

There won’t be more more rebels because this generation has been frightened into submission and apathy through a deliberately orchestrated culture of fear. No one will have faced adventure and lived to greatly embroider the story.   Continue reading “The Last Rebels: 25 Things We Did as Kids That Would Get Someone Arrested Today”

Uttering some of the more expressive words in the English language will cost you up to $250 if you say them in Arlington, now that county officials have upped their fines on public uses of profanity. The Arlington County Board just approved a measure increasing penalties for public intoxication and blue language from $100 to $250.

Even if Arlington is sacrificing its reputation as an urbanist’s dream community, its leaders have not given up their mission to clean up its residents sometimes-naughty antics. The code change adopted during Saturday’s board meeting came after the Arlington Police Department reported making 664 arrests for public inebriation and foul-mouthed talk in 2014.   Continue reading “Arlington Cracks Down on Salty Language”

The shooting death of Carlos Perez by a NV Prison Guard Has Raised many QuestionsCop Block – by Kelly W. Patterson

A lawsuit filed in April by the family of a man killed when a corrections officer opened fire on two prisoners as they fought in a hallway leading from the showers claims that fight was intentionally orchestrated by guards in order to justify murdering the inmates. A second lawsuit filed by the other prisoner, who survived the shooting, but was gravely injured, adds allegations of a coverup by prison officials.

At the time of the fight, both inmates had their hands cuffed behind their back and seemingly could have easily been controlled by the three guards present, without the need for the use of a firearm. Instead, they were shot four times in the head and upper body with a shotgun. Both lawsuits maintain that the inmates did not represent a threat to the guards sufficient to justify being repeatedly shot.   Continue reading “Nevada Lawsuits Claim Prison Guards Instigated a Fight, then Shot Inmates”

On Wall Street, no wolf is too big, and no sheep is too small.

At least Jordan Belfort didn’t target the mentally incapacitated. This real life Wolf of Wall Street is several thousand miles away from New York in Scottsdale, Arizona, the wannabe Hamptons of the southwest. As Investment News reports, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has accused John Waszolek of making himself the beneficiary of an 81-year-old client’s estate. She wanted the money to go to charity, but he thought the money should go to his own account. That’s the kind of asset allocation the financial industry understands best.   Continue reading “Stock Broker Tried To Swindle $1.8 Million From Client With Alzheimer’s”
