BARSTOW — U.S. Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit from Camp Pendleton conducted a non-combatant evacuation operation training exercise at Robert A. Sessions Memorial Sports Park reportedly at round 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

Staff Sgt. Bobbie Curtis, media communications chief at Camp Pendleton, said the purpose of the exercise was to provide the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit the opportunity to conduct training in unfamiliar environments during the final phase of their pre-deployment program. The co-owner of a Josephine County mining claim at the center of a land-use dispute with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management says an armed security presence by members of the Oath Keepers movement has “taken on a life of its own,” and he is pleading for calm after supporters apparently phoned in threats to BLM employees.

Doug Hughes, who flew his small helicopter over restricted airspace, over the US Capitol in Washington on Wednesday, was apparently expected to do so according to police in the area but they thought that he “would land on the east side of the capital,” opposite to where he landed prior to being arrested.

SEVEN YEARS AFTER the Federal Aviation Administration first warned Boeing that its new Dreamliner aircraft had a Wi-Fi design that made it vulnerable to hacking, a new government report suggests the passenger jets might still be vulnerable.

No parent expects to find a small piece of glass in their jarred baby food, but that’s exactly what happened to one consumer of the Beech-Nut brand.

The incident was immediately reported and now Beech-Nut has issued a voluntary recall of nearly 2,000 pounds of product that were shipped nationwide and may be contaminated with small glass pieces, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). Texas on Wednesday night executed Manuel Garza Jr. by lethal injection for killing a police officer, the second time in less than a week the state has put a convicted cop-killer to death.

Garza, 34, was pronounced dead at the Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville at 6:40 p.m., the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said. How do we classify Mississippi now?  In Mississippi, you do not need a license to carry a handgun openly.   Under very liberal restrictions, you will not need a license to carry a handgun concealed.  The new law goes into effect on 1 July, 2015, in two and a half months.  From the NRA-ILA:

Late Thursday, Governor Phil Bryant (R) signed Senate Bill 2394, a bill prioritized for passage by Lt. Governor Tate Reeves and sponsored by Sen. Terry Burton (R), and Senate Bill 2619, sponsored by Sen. Haskins Montgomery (D), into law.  These two measures make critical pro-Second Amendment reforms, including a clarification that a state-issued permit is not necessary to transport a loaded or unloaded pistol or revolver in a purse, handbag, satchel, other similar bag or briefcase or fully enclosed case.

COLORADO SPRINGS: We’ve known for some time that China conducted an anti-satellite test July 23 last year, but we learned today that that test was “successful” even if it didn’t destroy anything.

China has successfully placed low earth orbit satellites at risk, Air Force Lt. Gen.
