SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The IRS and FBI have partnered in a federal investigation of former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber and his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes, sources confirmed to KOIN 6 News.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon senators have unanimously approved a bill outlawing so-called revenge porn.
The bill was crafted to shield jilted lovers from having intimate photos, shared consensually with a former partner, posted online without their permission. SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Workers at a central Oregon landfill became suspicious when former Gov. John Kitzhaber and his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes, showed up to dump some trash last week.

A leading environmental group has filed a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency, accusing regulators of dismissing dangers about a certain chemical used in herbicides, including Monsanto’s widely used Roundup.
The lawsuit, filed Friday by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in federal district court in New York, argues that an ingredient in the herbicide – glyphosate – has had devastating effects on monarch butterflies, causing the population to halve in seven years. BOSTON (AP) — Publicity hasn’t jeopardized Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s right to an impartial jury, a federal appeals panel says, and opening statements can proceed next week as scheduled in the city where the deadly explosions occurred almost two years ago.
The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel said in a 2-1 ruling Friday that a U.S. district judge correctly denied Tsarnaev’s requests on three occasions to move the trial, especially given the “particularly unusual” timing with jury selection already underway. MEXICO CITY (AP) — It’s another big score for the Mexican government, which has been tearing through its list of most-wanted drug lords in recent years.
Still, no one expects drug trafficking or violence to decrease after the capture of Servando “La Tuta” Gomez, a former grade-school teacher whose Knights Templar cartel once terrorized the western state of Michoacan.
Crime will only shift around as the now weakened cartel regroups, or even splinters, as has happened with some of Mexico’s drug gangs after the killings or capture of top leaders. The strategic waters of the South China Sea are claimed by a confusing collection of various nations. The region’s strongest – and most vocal – stakeholder is China. On Thursday, the US Navy admitted that it is monitoring the area, launching its most advanced spy plane out of the Philippines.
The P-8A Poseidon is one the United States’ most advanced surveillance planes. It’s capable of both anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare, and is currently flying over the South China Sea. North Carolina’s State Ethics Committee has just opened up a major problem for their state — they just made it legal for lobbying firms to purchase prostitutes to service politicians. The Committee’s determination that sex had no value and that sex between a lobbyist and politician was nothing to report or in any way questionable means that a major loophole has opened up for lobbying firms. The House of Representatives finally agreed to pay for the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday night, just two hours before a lapse in funding that would have forced thousands of key government workers to go without pay.

Efforts to beat Ebola in Sierra Leone have been dealt a setback after 31 new cases were recorded in one village.
The community of 500 just outside the town of Makeni has now been put in lockdown by the army amid fears that more could be infected.
