Despite President Barack Obama’s promise that Obamacare plans would cost less than the average cell phone or cable bill, a new study finds that nearly half of the nation’s uninsured say Obamacare is too expensive.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck is taking criticism after acknowledging that the LAPD and business leaders met with Rene “Boxer” Enriquez, 52, a former shot caller for the Mexican mafia, while using public resources to aid his transportation and security. Beck said Thursday “mistakes were made” and pledged to “more thoroughly review future events before committing LAPD resources,” according to the Los Angeles Times. Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared February 2nd to be “Chris Kyle Day” to honor the Texan who became known the most lethal sniper in American history. Kyle was also recently immortalized in the blockbuster film “American Sniper.”
Kyle was credited with 150 sniper kills during his four tours of duty in Iraq as a Navy Seal. He was tragically shot and killed on February 2, 2013, while trying to help a fellow veteran who was allegedly suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The family of slain Bronx teen Ramarley Graham agreed to accept $3.9 million from the city Friday to settle their wrongful death lawsuit, the Daily News has learned.
The settlement comes amid an ongoing federal investigation by Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara into possible civil rights violations against the NYPD cops involved in the Feb. 2, 2012 fatal shooting.
Officer Richard Haste, who fired the fatal shot after chasing Graham, 18, from the street into his home, was initially indicted by the Bronx district attorney for manslaughter, but a judge threw out the case on a legal technicality. Weekley was originally charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and careless discharge of a firearm causing death, a misdemeanor, after 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones was shot in the head and killed on May 16, 2010, during a botched police raid at her home.
The officer has already been on trial twice for this crime, both ending with deadlocked jurors and mistrials- even after the judge in the second trial shockingly dropped the manslaughter charge due to a motion by the defense. For the 8th week in a row (something that hasn’t happened since June 2009), US total rig count plunged. This week’s 90 rig drop to 1543 is the largest so far (with oil rigs down 94 to 1223 – lowest since Jan 2013). The total rig count is now down 20% in the last 8 weeks to the lowest since June 2010 as it tracks the 4-month lagged oil price perfectly. This is the 2nd biggest 8-week drop in 22 years. This – rather unsurprisingly – has led Chevron to decide to cut 23% of its Pennsylvania workforce “due to activity levels.” Not ‘unambiguously positive’ as so many in the central planning bureaus would have everyone believe.
