Three police officers are expected to survive gunshot wounds suffered in the chase of a suspect shot dead on Monday on Chicago’s West side, the police department said.
The officers were investigating possible narcotics activity at about 9:40 p.m. when they encountered two suspects and chased one of them into a dark gangway between two buildings, the Chicago Police Department said. Continue reading “Three police officers shot in Chicago, suspect dead”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has revealed that 124 illegal immigrant criminals released from jail by the Obama administration since 2010 have been subsequently charged with murder.

Bloomberg’s Moms Demand Action thought it would be a good idea to post little cartoons of some of the things that pro gun advocates had to say at the hearing on Oregon’s HB 4147 last month, five weeks after the event took place.
The single-pane cartoon series was posted on the Moms Demand Action facebook page, but originated on Rebecca Cohen‘s twitter feed, @design_a_hole, and featured swipes at Christians and disabled people missing digits (not sure if her twitter handle is a reference to designing holes, or she’s calling herself an a-hole who designs). FORT WORTH — A Facebook video apparently depicting a Fort Worth officer spraying pepper spray into a group of oncoming motorcyclists has received more than 200,000 views in 15 hours.

The Orange County District Attorney’s office (OCDA) has filed charges against three of the police officers seen in a notorious surveillance video eating pot-laced candy bars during a May 26, 2015 raid of a Santa Ana medical marijuana dispensary, Sky High Holistic. The video, first posted by OC Weekly last June, clearly showed officers passing around candy bars, joking about feeling “light-headed,” and tossing darts after finishing their Scooby snack. The shocking footage of the “Sky High Cops” went viral, leading to nationwide and international news reports. HARTFORD — Five weeks after warning thousands of state employees could be laid off during the current Connecticut fiscal crisis, Gov. Dannel P. Malloythis week finally put the wheels in motion, giving formal notice to the 45,700 unionized state workers in 32 bargaining units.
Malloy has ordered department heads to report back to him, by next week, with cost-cutting ideas to tackle the current deficit in the state budget that is estimated as high as $266 million. Malloy offered his commissioners some suggestions, including $6 million in labor costs through layoffs, which must occur by the second week in June to realize the savings by the end of the fiscal year on June 30. MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian military to withdraw most of its forces from Syria, timing his move to the launch of Syria peace talks Monday — an end game that allows the Russian leader to cash in on his gains and reduce his risks in the conflict.
The start of the negotiations in Geneva offers Putin an opportune moment to declare an official end to the 5 ½-month Russian air campaign that has allowed Syrian President Bashar Assad’s army to win back some key ground and strengthen his positions ahead of the talks. With Russia’s main goals in Syria achieved, the pullback will allow Putin to pose as a peacemaker and help ease tensions with NATO member Turkey and the Gulf monarchies vexed by Moscow’s military action. SALT LAKE CITY — Utah lawmakers took a bold step in the final minutes of the 2016 Legislative Session. Late Friday night, the Utah House of Representatives passed a resolution declaring pornography a public health crisis. The resolution is the first of its kind in the country.

Cape Coral, FL – Instead of making his presence known or identifying himself as an officer, a cowardly cop snuck up behind a woman arguing with her boyfriend and violently threw her to the ground, knocking her unconscious. Although the blatant display of police brutality was caught on video, the officer has not been charged with excessive force.
Early on Sunday, Brittnie Fails was arguing with her boyfriend in a parking lot across the street from Dixie Roadhouse when an unidentified police officer knocked her unconscious. Admittedly drunk, Fails was lightly pushing her boyfriend while demanding her cigarettes and car keys when a Cape Coral cop suddenly rushed up behind her and slammed her to the pavement.
