North Korea may very well have the ability to kill millions of Americans, without directly firing on U.S. soil. For the first time, the pariah country’s state news agency warned it could hit the U.S. with an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) onslaught, a threat that experts contend is both very real and comes with catastrophic consequences.

“The biggest danger would be shorting out of the power grid, especially on the East Coast. Imagine a situation where large sections of the U.S. had no power. Imagine New York or Washington D.C. with no power for just a week. The implications would be hard to fathom,” Harry Kazianis, Director of Defense Studies at the Center for the National Interest, told Fox News. “The casualty rates would be off the charts.”   Continue reading “Millions of American lives could be at stake as North Korea threatens to attack power grid”

Originally designed 13 years ago, the 747 Supertanker was intended to be the biggest forest fire fighting weapon the world had ever seen. Evergreen International Airlines, based in McMinnville, Oregon, took one of their cargo 747’s, and redesigned the interior with firefighting equipment. Senator John McCain returned to the Senate Chamber on Tuesday to cast a deciding vote allowing the legislative body to begin debating a bill put together behind closed doors by Republicans that would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

And while many doctors and provider associations are opposed to a repeal — alongside at least half of Americans — major health industry players, especially on the insurance side, have been vocal in their opposition to the Affordable Care Act. In fact, the health industry donated millions more to Republicans than Democrats in every election cycle since 2010, as the Republican alternatives are expected to substantially enrich the industry.   Continue reading “Here’s how much the healthcare industry paid John McCain to take away your healthcare”

Two days into the start of my daughter’s 7th grade school year, she brought home a document that triggered a bit of an apoplectic, expletive-laden meltdown for me, and it was all centered around one word, Patriotism. The document was a form the school wanted me to sign acknowledging my receipt of something called the “Framework for Citizenship- The Student Code of Conduct.”

This document, to me, read like a badly written Sci Fi novel, only the Fi was missing, as in, this was a non-fiction declaration.   Continue reading “Public School Demands Patriotic Global Citizen Alliance From Kids”

Who was holding the back of your bike when you learned to ride? Chances are, it was a parent. Now a special cycling program is giving some children the opportunity to return that favor to their elderly parents decades later.

They say you never forget to ride a bike. That memory is the key to a new program that’s helping senior citizens with dementia and memory loss.

“Lois grew up not too far from here. They went swimming and biking and were outside all the time. They probably only had one bike to share with five girls, so there was a little bit of competition,” Cheryl Heilman, Lois’ daughter said.   Continue reading “New bike program aims to help elderly with memory loss”
