SAN JOSE — Looking to make some extra cash, David Callisch found the perfect tenants for the $1,500-a-month studio apartment behind his Willow Glen home — a pair of cats.

“Basically I’ve got two renters that don’t have opposable thumbs,” Callisch said. “It’s actually great. They’re very quiet, obviously. The only problem is they stink up the place.”  Continue reading “Landlord rents $1,500 studio to two cats, hits ‘peak Silicon Valley’”

An 82-year-old Cranbrook, B.C. woman with medical problems says she was made to stand in the midnight chill for more than two hours while RCMP officers attempted 15 times to obtain a breath sample.

When the stone-cold-sober pensioner with poor lung capacity was unable to blow hard enough to activate the roadside screening device, Margaret MacDonald was cited for failing to blow, her licence was suspended, she was fined $500 and her car was towed.  Continue reading “Sober 82-year-old fined for drunk driving in B.C. after she couldn’t blow hard enough to give a breath sample”

A federal judge in Manhattan ruled Tuesday that the Trump administration’s decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census was unlawful.

In his ruling, Judge Jesse Furman, of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, said Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross’s decision to add the question to the census was “arbitrary and capricious” and enjoined the administration from including it on the questionnaire.   Continue reading “Federal judge rules against Trump administration’s plan to add 2020 census citizenship question”

Actress and singer Carol Channing died early Tuesday at the age of 97 at her home in Rancho Mirage, California. Her longtime publicist B. Harlan Boll confirmed the entertainer’s death from natural causes.

Whether you knew her as Dolly, Lorelei, Muzzy or just Carol, Channing was a one-of-a-kind talent who captivated any audience. Her razor-sharp wit, gravelly voice and big, bright smile became the trademarks of a performer who originated some of Broadway’s most iconic roles throughout the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s. Channing continued to share her gifts on stage into her late 90s, enshrining her in a class of Broadway luminaries all her own.

American workers who have had their jobs outsourced to foreign workers and offshored to foreign countries are “very irate” over President Trump’s recent support for more U.S. job outsourcing through the H-1B visa program, advocates tell Breitbart News.

Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa and allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News. More than 85,000 Americans a year potentially lose their jobs to foreign labor through the H-1B visa program.   Continue reading “American Workers ‘Irate’ with Trump Over ‘Utterly Disappointing’ Pro-Outsourcing Plan”

A couple of links over at Steve Quayle’s website on Sunday caught my eye: First one about upcoming Trucker’s strike scheduled for April 12, 2019 and the second one from Business Insider explaining exactly what to expect if long-haul truckers stopped, from day one, into the day two-three scenario, then as long as a week, and it isn’t pretty.

The first story about the planned Trucker’s strike itself was written on January 2, 2019, detailing how a Facebook group called “Black Smoke Matters” is calling for a one day nationwide strike on April 12, 2019,  to protest the “state of trucking.”  As of that Jan. 2 story the group’s Facebook page had 9,000 members, the same number referred to in an interview with Charles Claburn, the organizer of the event, published on January 11, 2019.  Continue reading “Upcoming Trucker Strike Grows”

Hundreds of Honduran migrants began the long trek north on Monday, part of new US-bound caravan that hopes to succeed even as a previous wave of Central Americans were unable to quickly enter the United States.

Central American migrant caravans have become a flashpoint in the debate over US immigration policy, as President Donald Trump has remained adamant that the migrants will be barred from crossing the border. As reported by Oregon LiveA proposal by two Oregon lawmakers to require permits for all gun owners is generating buzz online and among Republicans at the Capitol, even before it’s scheduled to be introduced at the Legislature on Monday.

It’s the brainchild of student activists connected to the movement that grew out of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, where a shooter killed 17 people nearly a year ago, according to the bill. Sen. Rob Wagner, D-Tualatin, and Rep. Andrea Salinas, D-Lake Oswego, are sponsoring it.   Continue reading “Wait until you hear the details in this bill: Oregon proposal would require gun owners to obtain permits”

This isn’t exactly the kind of story the IRS wants buzzing around at tax time. The IRS and Justice Department normally want ‘scared straight’ stories just before Tax Day. Ideally, when an indictment or conviction for tax evasion hits the news, it makes you think twice. Somehow, you think just a bit more about all those deductions, or if you really reported all your income, before you sign your return under penalties of perjury.

Instead, we have the top dog at the IRS, the IRS Commissioner himself, admitting that, well, there’s a problem with illegal immigrants and taxes. In fact, the top IRS official this time wasn’t talking about how the IRS wipes some hard drives or can’t find emails. He wasn’t even asking for a bigger budget to give bonuses to IRS employees.   Continue reading “IRS Admits It Encourages Illegals To Steal Social Security Numbers For Taxes”
