In short, it demonstrates and validates the value of armed self-defense even when you do not pull the trigger and — crucially — have no cause to pull the trigger. David Koch, the conservative billionaire, activist and philanthropist, who gave more than $1 billion to charitable causes but was best known for using his money to reshape U.S. politics has died at the age of 79.

David, together with his brother, Charles, co-owned Koch Industries, a Nebraska-based energy and chemical company, since 1983. David stepped down from running the Koch organization last year due to declining health. LOS ANGELES, Aug 22 (Reuters) – An armed woman opened fire in the Skid Row section of downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, wounding four people and triggering a hunt for the suspect, police said.

In its inaugural year, Portland’s free legal assistance program for immigrants provided at least 341 people with lawyers to represent them in deportation hearings according to the initiative’s manager, Stephen Manning.

The program, called Universal Representation, also helped at least 105 would-be refugees apply for asylum.
