An experimental trial to reduce the mosquito population in Brazil through the deliberate release of 450,000 genetically modified mosquitoes has failed miserably and may have even created a genetic hybrid super species.
British biotech company Oxitec conducted a 27-month long experiment in 2013 Jacobina, Brazil, aimed at reducing the local mosquito population by 90 percent while preserving the genetic integrity of the local insect population. A homeowner in Georgia shot and killed three young masked men at his home early Monday morning, according to Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levett.
Authorities identified the three deceased individuals as juveniles Monday evening — two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old — but have not released their names. The sheriff’s office told ABC News it waited to release information about the teens, all from Conyers, Georgia, until all three families were notified. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer has been charged after a video surfaced of a confrontation involving the officer and an IPS student.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said charges against Officer Robert Lawson include battery, obstruction of justice, perjury, false informing and official misconduct. The battery and false informing charges are misdemeanors while the obstruction of justice, perjury and official misconduct charges are felonies. President Donald Trump told reporters Monday that “it’s looking like” Iran was behind this weekend’s attack on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia but suggested it was too early to say for sure. He also said he was “not looking to get into new conflict, but sometimes you have to.”
