An ocean research group said Monday that one of its tagged great white sharks has been located in Long Island Sound for the first time in the organization’s history, swimming off Greenwich just before 9 a.m.
The shark, known as Cabot, has been measured at 9 feet, 8 inches long and its weight is estimated at about 533 pounds, according to experts at OCEARCH, a research group that routinely tags and tracks sharks and other marine creatures.

It’s been nearly two weeks since the City of Baltimore’s networks were shut down in response to a ransomware attack, and there’s still no end in sight to the attack’s impact. It may be weeks more before the city’s services return to something resembling normal—manual workarounds are being put in place to handle some services now, but the city’s water billing and other payment systems remain offline, as well as most of the city’s email and much of the government’s phone systems. The Chicago Police Department (CPD) has increased its presence at several of the city’s Jewish schools, and synagogues after evidence of Molotov cocktails were found outside a Lakeview East synagogue.
Worshippers reported an arson attempt on Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel Congregation where broken bottles, charred cloth, and a scorched wall was discovered at the synagogue on Sunday, according to the Chicago Tribune. US President Donald Trump issued an ominous warning to Iran on Sunday, suggesting that if the Islamic Republic attacks American interests, it will be destroyed.

The Israeli broadcaster of the Eurovision Song Contest said on Sunday that an unauthorised display of Palestinian flags by Iceland’s band could draw “punishment” from the event’s organisers.
During the point-tally of Saturday’s final, members of the eclectic punk ensemble Hatari held up scarf-sized Palestinian flags. A vocalist, Klemens Nikulásson Hannigan, flashed a V-for-victory sign. Many in the Tel Aviv audience responded with boos.

Because government is the antithesis to freedom, industrial hemp has been banned nationwide since 1937 ostensibly due to the plant’s similarities to marijuana. Many have speculated that this move was also due to the fact that cannabis is in direct competition with the pharmaceutical industry by providing far safer alternative treatments as well as directly competing with the petrochemical industry. However, all this changed in December after President Donald Trump signed the Agriculture Improvement act of 2018, legalizing industrial hemp on a national scale. But thanks to a police state, dependent on locking people in cages for a plant, three truckers in Idaho are facing down horrific prison sentences for carrying it. The worst measles outbreak in the United States in 25 years has spread to Oklahoma, federal health officials said on Monday as they reported 41 new cases nationwide, raising the total number sickened this year to 880 people.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a 4.9% increase in the number of measles cases from May 10 to May 17 in an outbreak that has now reached 24 states. Italian unions have refused to load cargo onto a Saudi ship carrying weapons, in protest against Riyadh’s war on Yemen. The dock workers have gone on strike, refusing to work until the ship leaves port in Genoa.
While the Saudi Arabian ship, the Bahri-Yanbu, was expected to leave for Jeddah by the end end of the day, it seems the delivery might end up being rather late. After unsuccessful attempts to have the ship barred from docking in Italy altogether, it was greeted by banners and a protests as it arrived in port Monday. Police in Alabama have captured a gunman they say shot and killed a police officer and wounded two others at a trailer park in Auburn late last night, according to local reports.
The officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call when Grady Wayne Wilkes – clad in camouflage body armor and a helmet – opened fire, authorities said.
