A lawsuit brought by people incarcerated in California’s prison system alleges harrowing conditions that include mice and maggots falling from the ceiling in prison cafeterias, according to NBC.

Federal authorities charged a DC-area suspect Monday with a plot to use a stolen truck to run down pedestrians on the National Harbor waterfront, a popular tourist site along the Potomac River near Washington.

The American Civil Liberties Union has issued a travel advisory for “immigrants and people of color to use extreme caution” in Florida because of a pending immigration bill the state legislature is considering that would ban so-called sanctuary cities.

Two migrants are dead after an alleged human smuggler led El Paso Sector Border Patrol agents on a pursuit Saturday evening. Agents apprehended 10 migrants who survived the crash and the U.S. citizen driver.
El Paso Sector agents received information about suspicious behavior involving a minivan near mile marker 131 on Highway 9 in New Mexico. As the agents arrived on the scene, they attempted to stop the minivan by using their emergency lights and siren. A U.S. judge on Monday halted the Trump administration’s policy of sending some asylum seekers back across the southern border to wait out their cases in Mexico, stopping a program the government planned to expand to stem a recent flood of migrants.
