Earlier this month a number of Jewish organisations in Argentina launched a petition against the former Pink Floyd front man after he participated in an event put on by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to pressure Israel to change its Palestinian policy.
Arthur Stark, Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organisations, and Executive Vice Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein have been urging companies sponsoring rock legend Roger Waters’ scheduled Mexico tour to pull their support ‘in view of the hostile, bigoted, and anti-Semitic comments’ made by the musician ‘on numerous occasions’. Bill Daley on Wednesday unveiled a strategy to grow Chicago out of its financial crisis — to a population of 3 million within the next decade — even as he opened the door to a commuter tax and constitutional amendment to solve a looming pension crisis.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has emphatically and repeatedly ruled out a commuter tax for fear it would put the kibosh on his efforts to lure corporate headquarters downtown. Continue reading “Mayoral candidate Bill Daley opens door to commuter tax to help fund pensions”

A century after Nikola Tesla’s famous Wardenclyffe tower was dismantled, the legacy of the world’s greatest inventor lives on in the form of a new project which aims to develop wireless power transmission and a host of other communications and energy functions.
Strikingly similar to the Wardenclyffe tower, a new facility has gone up along a major transit route in the town of Milford, Texas. Built and operated by a company called Visiv Technologies, the tower is designed for precisely the same functions as the original Tesla tower, that is, for wireless communications and the transmission of electricity through air via low-frequency radio waves known as ‘surface waves.’ Continue reading “Tesla’s Wireless Energy Technology Being Revived In Texas”

Salt Lake City, UT — “He’s got a gun!” and “He’s pointing, he’s pointing!” were two phrases Salt Lake City police officers shouted earlier this month before opening fire on a popular local rapper from Glendale, killing him. However, nearly 3 weeks after the shooting, police confirmed on Wednesday that there was no gun.
Also on Wednesday, police released the body camera footage from that night, showing officers opening fire on the unarmed Cody Belgard. What’s more, another video shows his girlfriend tell officers—before they shot him—that Belgard has no gun. Incoming House Judiciary Committee chair Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) revealed plans Tuesday to launch an investigation into the rise of “white nationalism” in the United States when Democrats take over the House of Representatives next year.
In a letter to Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Nadler demands answers to questions the Democratic minority had submitted to the administration over the past two years but which, he says, the agencies had ignored. The questions include accusations Trump “issued false statements” about terrorism and that he intended to single out Muslims. Continue reading “House Democrats to Investigate ‘White Nationalism’”
Several weeks ago, when looking at the US budget data for the recently concluded (Sept 30) Fiscal 2018, we noted that the most troubling observation in the latest data (besides the growing deficit, rising spending and shrinking tax revenues) was that the government paid $523 billion in total interest in fiscal 2018, the highest on record. These are the hellish conditions that are driving members of the Central American migrant caravan to finally turn their backs on their US dream – by ‘self-deporting’.
Despite traveling as much as 4,500 miles – much of it on foot – hundreds of migrants have already accepted free flights home rather than stay longer in the filth-strewn sports complex that has become their temporary home in Tijuana, Mexico. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), a leading member of the Senate Finance Committee, and a group of GOP allies are pushing President Trump to move a newly negotiated trade deal with Canada and Mexico through Congress before Democrats take over the House next year.
Toomey said the Trump administration needed to submit the final text of the deal to Congress by Friday if lawmakers are to have any chance of implementing it before Democrats assume the House majority. Continue reading “Senate GOP presses Trump to move on new NAFTA deal before Dems take over House”

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — To prepare for an active shooter, faculty and students at Oakland University are arming themselves — with hockey pucks.
The idea of using the quirky self-defense tool grew out of a training session Police Chief Mark Gordon led in March for faculty members on what they should do if a gunman enters their classroom. Continue reading “College arms staff with hockey pucks to fight active shooters”
