The incident happened on Wednesday night, when Alexandria Montgomery was trying to place an order — in English — at a Taco Bell drive thru window at 785 East Ninth St. The employee refused to take her order because she wasn’t speaking Spanish. Floodwaters from Tropical Depression Florence has entirely cut off the North Carolina city of Wilmington, prompting officials to call for additional help from state law enforcement and the National Guard.

A top Israeli military and energy official has questioned Israel and China’s growing economic ties just as a Chinese company is set to begin operating Haifa Port as part of a major 25-year contract previously struck in 2015.
“When China acquires ports,” Israeli Brigadier General Shaul Horev began in an interview this week with national news source, Arutz Sheva, “it does so under the guise of maintaining a trade route from the Indian Ocean via the Suez Canal to Europe, such as the port of Piraeus in Greece. As I was growing up as a kid, just as all of you, I ate anything and everything that was put in front of me, if it smelled and tasted good I ralphed it down; food was everything as I was growing up. As I grew older that came to be a curse, all the crap that came with this good food is now taking its toll. I won’t go into details, but I will tell you this, I have pain that stays with me 24/7. Shrouded in mystery, a US-funded medical facility in Georgia could be a cover for a bioweapons lab used for disturbing experiments that banned in the US, a Georgian ex-security minister has claimed. Tbilisi denies the accusations.
The center, which is officially called the R. Lugar Center for Public Health Research, is described as a “brand new facility” tasked with the “prevention of proliferation of technology, pathogens and expertise related to the development of biological weapons” by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), an agency of Georgia’s Health Ministry. Police in North Carolina arrested five people Saturday night as looters began to break into stores while Tropical Storm Florence brought chaos to the region.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Trump administration will send a message to all U.S. cellphones on Thursday to test a previously unused alert system that aims to warn the public about national emergencies.
The messages will bear the headline “Presidential Alert”, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said in a statement this week. I took the name Vidrebel for this blog because I began it by commenting on videos from a rebel’s perspective. Today I want to go back to my origins by commenting on two videos you need to know about.
The first is an interview with Rosemary Gibson who wrote China Rx. China makes the active ingredients for most drug manufacturers in the world including all those generics made in India. They make our penicillin, birth control pills and antibiotics. China dumped drugs on the market to bankrupt competitors in Europe, the US and India. The FDA banned 29 Chinese company products due to impurities. The FDA had to rescind the ban on 14 products because nobody else was producing it. Contaminated Chinese heparin killed many American heart patients but still imported from China as we had no alternative sources. This is becoming a national security issue. WASHINGTON ― The Economic Club of Washington threw a party for Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man, on Thursday night in the fancy hotel ballroom that also hosts the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Economic Club president and billionaire private equity investor David Rubenstein interviewed Bezos on a stage for the benefit of lesser rich people who’d paid to attend. At one point near the beginning of the event, Rubenstein asked the crowd if anyone had taken the subway to get there, and everyone laughed.
