SEATTLE (AP) — Family members of a pregnant mother shot and killed by Seattle police questioned Monday why they didn’t use a Taser or other non-lethal options when they encountered the woman, who the officers knew had been struggling with mental health issues.

West Alabama authorities are investigating after a man in their care died after he was tased by police last week.

It happened after Northport Police responded to a wreck with injuries around 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the 4100 block of Fifth Street, near the Famers Market.

While officers were on the way, they were told that one of the drivers had walked away from the scene. Called the “window of vulnerability,” the first year of a newborn baby’s life is when they are highly susceptible to infectious diseases. This window could narrow or even close completely, if it were possible to vaccinate infants immediately after birth. Instead, two million babies worldwide die each year from infectious diseases before they turn six months old.

A majority of the Rhode Island school districts with “1-1” programs where each student is issued a laptop have a blanket policy of spying on the students and everything they do on their laptops, during, before and after school hours, on or off school premises, without any evidence (or even suspicion ) of wrongdoing.

The schools analogize this to school locker searches, in which students are denied any Fourth Amendment protections. The Army has begun mandatory transgender sensitivity training for soldiers. University of Cincinnati Medical Center released a statement on behalf of Fred and Cindy Warmbier, Monday afternoon.

Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 8-0 in favor of the Asian-American dance-rock band The Slants, holding that the First Amendment protects the rights of the band’s members to register a trademark in their band’s “offensive” name.

At issue in Matal v. Tam was a federal law prohibiting the registration of any trademark that may “disparage…or bring…into contemp[t] or disrepute” any “persons, living or dead.” The Patent and Trademark Office cited this provision in 2011 when it refused to register a trademark in the name of The Slants, thereby denying the band the same protections that federal law extends to countless other musical acts. A grisly claim that 42 bodies were found in a single room in the London apartment tower that caught fire last week has swept the Internet, lending added drama to a horrific story.

The claim stems from J Smith’s YouTube video, and has been picked up by several UK newspapers, though fire officials have not verified it.
