Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder to ask the Department of Justice to fund GPS tracking devices for autistic children–even though there are private companies that already offer this service.

DHS is in the midst of a project where video footage taken of people moving throughout the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash., will be combined with mock profiles of volunteers (This is 100% B/S no one refused). Then various commercial off-the-shelf facial recognition products will be tested to see how accurate they are.
The data being collected consists of video taken during home games of the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League. The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is handling video collection. Results from the facial recognition assessment will be made available to the government. WASHINGTON — The C.I.A. is paying AT&T more than $10 million a year to assist with overseas counterterrorism investigations by exploiting the company’s vast database of phone records, which includes Americans’ international calls, according to government officials.
The cooperation is conducted under a voluntary contract, not under subpoenas or court orders compelling the company to participate, according to the officials. The C.I.A. supplies phone numbers of overseas terrorism suspects, and AT&T searches its database and provides records of calls that may help identify foreign associates, the officials said. When former Tempe Police Department detective Jessica Dever-Jakusz let slip to her lover that she and two other undercovers investigating drug sales were cops, it sunk five months of work in the case, several news outlets reported. The Silk Road is dead. But the dark web dream lives on.
On Wednesday morning, Silk Road 2.0 came online, promising a new and slightly improved version of the anonymous black market for drugs and other contraband that the Department of Justice shut down just over a month before. Like the old Silk Road, which until its closure served as the Web’s most popular bazaar for anonymous narcotics sales, the new site uses the anonymity tool Tor and the cryptocurrency Bitcoin to protect the identity of its users. As of Wednesday morning, it already sported close to 500 drug listings, ranging from marijuana to ecstasy to cocaine. It’s even being administered by a new manager using the handle the Dread Pirate Roberts, the same pseudonym adopted by the previous owner and manager of the Silk Road, allegedly the 29-year-old Ross Ulbricht arrested by the FBI in San Francisco on October 2nd. The Pentagon may expand its system of propaganda websites aimed at various audiences around the world despite attempts by Congress to kill the program, Special Operations Command documents released Tuesday show.
Tampa-based SOCOM has opened up a search for potential contractors to run the command’s Trans Regional Web Initiative, a collection of news websites run by various combatant commands throughout the world. The command’s request called for any interested companies to send information about how they would continue to maintain the sites or develop new ones.
