President Trump signed a sweeping bipartisan bill into law on Wednesday aimed at making medical treatment for opioid addiction more widely available while also cracking down on illicit drugs being sent through the mail.

Authorities have intercepted suspicious devices intended for former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and the Florida office of Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was evacuated Wednesday after a suspicious package was mailed there.

Police are investigating a suspicious package sent to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Sunrise, Florida.
Earlier Wednesday, suspicious packages were sent to the homes of the Clintons and Obamas and CNN’s headquarters. Democratic donor George Soros had a similar package sent to him this week. The packages sent to former President Barack Obama and the Clintons were intercepted by the Secret Service during routine mail screening procedures. The packages were identified to be potential explosive devices, according to a Secret Service statement. Update VI: NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said during a Wednesday press conference that the pipe bomb sent to CNN’s New York office was “clearly an act of terror.”
NYPD commissioner James O’Neill said police found an envelope of white powder along with the bomb at the Time Warner building. “We’ve seen this before. We’ve seen worse. TOKYO (AP) — A top U.S. energy official said Monday that Asia is the center of growth in energy demand and offers a great opportunity to expand American liquefied natural gas exports.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette told reporters in Tokyo that the U.S. is working with Japan and others to build facilities for U.S. LNG exports and improve their energy security. A joint-biological opinion that acts as a guiding document for environmental regulations in the Klamath Basin will likely be expedited for completion by August 2019, as result of an executive memo signed by President Trump in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Donald William Boettcher was born February 22, 1955 on a United States military base in Ft. Hood, Texas to Donald and the late Alounda Boettcher. He was the oldest of six children. Don passed away peacefully in his Paris, Michigan home with his wife and family by his side on Thursday October 18, 2018 at the age of 63. Don was under the gentle care of Great Lakes Home Hospice after a long battle with lung cancer.
Don was the beloved husband of Deborah Boettcher for 15 years. Loving son of Donald and the late Alounda Boettcher. The ever-growing caravan of Central American migrants swelled on Sunday to an estimated 7,000 people, who are largely dedicated to traveling north in hopes of reaching the United States.
The caravan set out from Honduras on October 13 as a group of 160 migrants but grew to a massive group after word spread. The migrants have told news outlets they’re fleeing their home countries because of crippling poverty and widespread violence. A manhunt was underway Sunday for a suspect in the killing of a police officer near a suburban Atlanta school after he and his partner responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle, authorities said.

CIUDAD HIDALGO, Mexico (AP) — About 2,000 Central American migrants who circumvented Mexican police at a border bridge and swam, forded and floated across the river from Guatemala decided on Saturday to re-form their mass caravan and continue their trek northward toward the United States.

The number of candidates targeted by negative messages this election season seems to have increased, according to a Vermont State Police detective. And, the manner in which a death threat was sent to a candidate for the Vermont House of Representatives — through the mail — is the first he’s seen in 13 years with the agency.
