Dear Nisha,

I have been following the The Rutherford Institute’s activities in defending people at odds with the government for some time now, and I am grateful that the Institutie comes to people’s assistance, like in Marine Brandon Raub’s case.

A profoundly troubling study published by the University of Texas School of Law concludes that the American criminal justice system is dead in everything but name. The paper, entitled “Waiving the Criminal Justice System,” describes how the adversarial process through which the state must prove the guilt of a defendant has been supplanted with a system of administrative law in which prosecutors extract plea bargains in exchange for relatively lenient sentences. This is why federal prosecutors win more than ninety percent of their cases through plea bargains, rather than jury trials.

New Mexico is a strange place full of extreme contrasts.  It is full of awesomely beautiful country intermixed with sprawling rangelands and hard rocky desert.  The land in some places is so broken that it looks like an angry giant had picked it up, and then in fury had dashed it hard into the ground.  The cataclysmic impact rendered the land into torturous deep chasms, spires, weird-looking hooligans, narrow cuts, featuring towering mesas back dropped by deep blue skies and snow-capped mountains.

The people who live in this land denoted by extremes of topography that sees daytime temperatures soaring to over 110F in the daytime and then plunging down into a bone-chilling freeze at night are an ornery lot.  They are very tough and self-reliant, soft-spoken and polite.   Continue reading “A New Mexican Rancher’s View on Bundy”

This mass grave of dead cattle believed killed and buried by the BLM was discovered by citizen journalists at the Bundy ranch.  The BLM denied having injured or killed any cattle.  Then the BLM spun a story that BLM contractors had been forced to kill several bulls as a protective measure.

Imagine if this grave had contained American people murdered by government forces!
