An armed suspect took a bus driver hostage in Portland, Oregon, on Wednesday, resulting in a large standoff and the deployment of the Portland Police Bureau’s (PPB) emergency reaction and crisis negotiation teams. The incident began around 12:15 pm local time in the Old Town neighborhood. The suspect was taken into custody around 3:44 pm. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz confirmed on Thursday that at least 30 bodies have been pulled from the Potomac River after a Black Hawk helicopter collided with a commercial Bombardier airplane on Wednesday night over Reagan International Airport (DCA) in Washington, DC. The search and rescue mission turned to a recovery mission at 4 am on Thursday morning as no survivors were found. Passengers were found under water still strapped to their seats. As the extended ceasefire in southern Lebanon gets underway, Israeli fire against civilian targets continue as they had throughout the initial 60-day ceasefire. An Arizona public school teacher was captured on video instructing students that there are more than two genders, which is in opposition to President Donald Trump’s recent executive order declaring gender ideology will no longer be permitted in US schools. On Wednesday Russian officials have alleged that a new massive Ukraine drone attack included an effort to target a nuclear power plant. At least 100 drones were sent from Ukraine overnight against various oil and power facilities in one of the single biggest UAV barrages of the war.
RIA news agency reported that the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant came under attack. It is the largest power generating plant in Russia’s northwest region. State media reports indicate the plant is operating normally in the wake of the assault.

Democrats in the Washington Legislature are planning to tax cow flatulence.
House Bill 1630 would require feedlots and dairy farms to report the annual metric tons of methane emitted by cows in the preceding calendar year. If the methane exceeds CO2 limits, those facilities could become regulated under the state’s controversial Climate Commitment Act, the same law that spiked gas prices in Washington state.
