FRESNO, Calif. — Police in Fresno, California, have released dramatic surveillance footage showing a customer stepping in to prevent an armed robbery at a Starbucks.
Authorities said the video shows a hero taking down a man who will soon face many felony charges, CBS affiliate KGPE-TV in Fresno reports.

The era of artificial intelligence and technological deceit is upon us. If you think “fake news” and propaganda is bad right now, just wait.
And you won’t have to wait very long, at that.
Pretty soon, computer wizardry and artificial intelligence will allow video footage to be created that is practically indiscernible from the real deal. Add to this holograph technology, and soon, a person could appear to be speaking, live, in front of you, and you’d never even know it was all fake. The ethical ramifications of AI and technology are simply mind-boggling. In fact, some folks even believe it will signal the beginning of the end of humanity.

An Idaho couple hoping to catch a glimpse of the wildlife on their way to Lake Louise, Alta., got more than they bargained for.

Retired United States Army Colonel Lawrence Wilerson and the former chief of staff to Colin Powell when he was secretary of state told MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Sunday that Jews pose the biggest threat to Christians in the Middle East.
Wilkerson criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for provoking danger in the region.
“The pressure is building incrementally,” Wilkerson said. “Bibi Netanyahu and his government have been moving to make sure that the pressure builds — the tension builds. Jordan’s military released security camera footage Monday of a shooting in which a Jordanian soldier killed three U.S. military trainers at an air base in the kingdom.
The video had previously been shown to the families of the U.S. Army Green Berets by U.S. law enforcement but had not been made public until Monday.

Driver’s manuals in Arizona will now include a section detailing “how not to get shot by police” during traffic stops, which is specifically aimed at armed drivers in the wake of the shooting that killed Philando Castile.
Democratic State Rep. Reginald Bolding told the Arizona Daily Star that he pushed for a rewrite of the state’s driver’s manual as a way to help educate drivers—especially those who are black and Hispanic, because he said records have shown that they are more likely to become victims of police shootings. There was nothing wrong with these TV ads at the time. But they wouldn’t air in these “Oh, wait, I’m offended” days.
Worth the 60 minute watch time.
George Carlin was an awesome comedian, and more than that he was one who got his laughs by doing what most others would not; by constantly poking the very irritable and VERY dangerous bugbear that is the government. And not simply by pointing out the physical flaws of the politicians, or parodying their harmless but annoying quirks (an easy way to milk the crowd for cheap laughs). That would have been far safer, because that sort of routine does not reveal anything incriminating about them OR the system…
He actually made people laugh with the truth. Entertaining with the truth isn’t just extraordinarily difficult, considering how people tend NOT to be entertained by such serious/boring/depressing issues (though this sort of comedy had the advantage of already being a dirty joke without requiring much effort). A 20-year-old man accused of torching a North Carolina apartment building that left 130 people homeless last week was in the U.S. illegally, the sheriff’s office told the Charlotte Observer.
Jesus Reyes Lopez, who was arrested Thursday in connection with the fire at the Woodscape Apartments, is an illegal immigrant from Mexico and is wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the paper reported. Big Rapids, MI — A former pastor will serve time in jail for a conviction of “jury tampering,” after he was arrested and charged with a felony for handing out jury information pamphlets outside of a courthouse.
Keith Wood is innocent. He was merely attempting to educate his neighbors about their rights on a jury, which should be protected free speech. However, courts are intent on using their power to hide the full scope of the jurors’ responsibility and they will apparently go to great lengths to do so — including throwing an entirely innocent man in prison. Eight people were found dead and 30 others injured, inside a semitrailer overnight in a Walmart parking lot in San Antonio, Texas, in what officials are describing as a “human trafficking crime.”
At a press conference at the scene early Sunday morning, local police and fire officials said the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also been called in to help investigate.
